THE NEWS OUR TRIP TO OTTAWA (by Janis McInnes and Carol MacLeod ) On behalf of the students who went to Ottawa we would like to ex press our genuine thanks to, everyone who helped in any way to make our frip such a sremen dous success. A very special thanks goes to Mrs. V. Hopper and Mrs. T.Brown for their help and good company during the trip. But there is really no way to express the deep thanks each individual feels for Mr.Marvin Steen--for his time, patience and all- around help, given to make this trip something we'll | never forget. He worked hard and gave his assistance to all our fund-raising projects, and without him we. | never would have gotten to Ottawa. Our "Greyhound" left home at 5.30 A.M., Satur- day, March 28, and arrived at the beautiful Chateau Laurier Hotel at approximately 4:30 A.M. Sunday. On our way up we picked up Roger Plamondon in Sudbury, our Bus Driver throughout the entire trip. Since the trip would take too much room to describe in great detail, we are giving you the following sum- mary of the main highlights . We went through all the Parliament Buildings, met Mr.John Diefenbaker, had a discussion with Mr. Maurice Sauve, Minister of Fisheries. We toured the War Museum, Archives, the Mint and the Ottawa We toured both Car}ton University and the Univer- sity of Ottawa, attending classes in the latter. We went to the Capital Commissions Building, the Museu of Natural History, Upland Airport and Rideau Hall-- the home of our Governor-General. When we met Mayor Whitton, Bonnie Hamilton presented her with a painting from our Township Citizen Building . ALL - We left Montreal for home at 4:00 P.M., Friday, arriving at 3:30 P.M., Saturday, April 4th.
