Mrs. Karl Fadden and Miss Sharon Webb re- ceived with Mrs.Terry Britton of Port Arthur (nee Joyce Fadden} at the Shower Tea in her honor in the United Church Hall. The tea was poured by Miss Grace Fadden of Port Arthur, aunt of the bride and Mrs. D.L. Wilson, Mrs. R.C.Skinner and Mrs. Bill Fadden. Servitors were Mesdames David Rigelsford and Gerard Chicoine and the Misses Lorraine Bedard, Maureen Cornell, Nicolle Quelette, Doris McParland, Rosa Speziale. Mrs.Chas. Pearson, Mrs.Tom Webb and Mrs. Larry Parchen replenished. The gift table was attended by Miss Brenda Lidkea and the guest book by Vicky Smith. Mrs. J.G.Scott convened the St.Patrick's Tea given by the United Church women on March 14 with Mrs.Bill Thrower as cashier. The casserole and other supper dishes at the delicatessen counter were sold by Mrs.Geo. Riley and Mrs. Alec Gordon. Tea was poured by Mrs.J.B.Ridsdale and Mrs. Manuel McCouan, Mrs. H.W.Gellert and Mrs. Fraser Muldrew. Servitors were Mesdames Vernon Weaver, Oscar Laine, John, Spillane, Rodney MacCuaig, David Nesbitt and Miss Joan Neil. ; Mesdames Bill Weaver, Henry Miller, Bill Gerow, Russell Macadam and Bill Kinney re- plenished and baby-sitting was done by CGIT members Nola Fummerton and Sharon Riley. George Birch, Rev.R.J.Inshaw, Reg. Bailey, Bill Furlonger and Geoff Birch of Schreiber with Warren Robinson of Terrace Bay attended a Laymen's meeting in Fort William necéntlIy. The first shuffleboard tournament in the Legion had Edna Cocks and Lorraine Nesbitt winning the A group and Margaret Handel and Helen Nesbitt winning the B group. Mrs. C.N.Bentham and seh oee Lynn of Mor- ris, Man. are visiting old friends here, the guests of Mrs. W.T.Wallace. Mrs. Peter McColeman was taken by ambulance to Terrace Bay Hospital. on Saturday. Mrs. Ellard White of Toronto was the guest of Mrs.F.W.Hiller last week. Mrs.Sam Fopel, Lloyd and Richie, of Regina, have been visiting Mr.& Mrs.Walter Murphy and other relations here, Sgt.Murray Varrin RCAF was the guest of Mr. & Mrs.Chas.Holmes hast week = enroute from Edmonton to Downsview. Mr.& Mrs.Avery Duncan and daughter of Fort William are visiting Mr.& Mrs.George Duncan, Dr. J.E.Thompson of Toronto was the guest of Mr.& Mrs. L.R.McCuaig while attending the funer al of the late "Wally" Simon. Mrs.Mary Lang was elected president of the figure skating club and Mrs.Margaret Johnson the secretary-treasurer, with other committees and convenors to be elected at Fall organiza- tion meeting. SIMON The funeral of the late W.B. (Wally) Simon, whose death occurred on March 9th at the age of 73, was conducted on March 12 in St.Andre United Church by Rev. Fraser Muldrew. J.Gordon, with the senior choir, led in Singing Jesu, The Very Thought Of Thee and Abide With Me. Pallbearers were G.Birch, F,.Harness, W.Gerow, J.Stitt, W.Wilson and G.Gordon, Interment was in Schreiber Ceme- tary. Immediate survivors are his wife, the for- mer Kathleen Walker and son Bruce, of Schrei- ber, and two brothers, Doug.of Brockville and Morrey of Tweed. The Masonic Order, the Oddfellows Lodge and the Bro.of Railway Trainmen all paid their respects to their late brother at private ceremonies in the Gawley Funeral Chapel prior to the Church service. Wally --- to everyone in Schreiber - was that rare person, born with perfect co-ordination, which makes the outstanding athlete. He play ed professional ball and hockey and could have been equally successful in rugby 'or lacrosse. Coming to Schreiber in 1911 he was employed as trainman, retiring as conductor in 1955. In the intervening years he was a bulwark of 'hockey and ball in Schreiber and, in later years, an ardent supporter and active partici pant in all conservation movements in the area He was also a life member of the curling club and, as long as his health permitted, an official at thé various bonspiels. After his | re-tirement from the CPR Wally established an insurance business, his office on the main street affording him a first hand view of local affairs and the opportunity to discuss with passersby, the possible importance of decisions made in each event, Mo monument, no epigraph, will perpetuate Wally'ts memory, but he will live forever in the recollection of his wry comments. Attending the service from out of town were M.Simon, Tweed, Dr.J.E.Thompson and Mrs. Ellard White, Toronto, Harry Ward, Terrace Bay} Mrs. E,Legault, Mrs.P.Sully, Harry Timco, J. Spillet, T.Seppala, Mr.and Mrs.W.Schelling, and M.Hubilet, Rossport, S.Wilson of Marathon, Mr.& Mrs.A.B.Coghlan, H.Blanchard, A.A.Addison of Port Arthur, Mr.& Mrs.W.R.Black, J.A. MacIsaac, J.Kennedy, N.Eady, W.Geddes, J.A. Wishart, A.McKay, G.Erickson and H.McCarville of Fort Willian.
