Francis Gaulin left Friday to attend the funeral of his brother Clifford, who died suddenly at his home in Bury, Quebec. GOLF NEWS The Terrace Bay Golf Course Committee held their last-meeting on February 6th, At this meeting it was decided to hold a "General" meeting in the latter part of March. All peolpe in Terrace Bay and surrounding communities, who have an interest in golf will be invited to attend. A talk on the progress of the course from the time of its beginning to its present state will be given, accompanied by charts and pictures. Also, a discussion on} the plans for operation of the course will take place. Golf pictures will be shown, one about instructional golf, and another showing the play of the greats in the Pro. Golf world. At this meeting the first drive for member- ship will take place. For the year of 1964, fees for membership will be 1/2 of the normal fee, when all nine holes are playable. This makes the fees for 1964 as follows: Member- ship - Men - $15.00; Women - $10.00; Up to 17th birthday - $5.00. Daily Green fees - $1.00 - Monday thru Friday; $1.50 - Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Dave Desrosiers is Chairman of the Member- ship Committee and anyone wishing to become a member before the General meeting, will con- tact Dave. Thor Olsen was the first paid-up member. It was also decided to hold a contest to select a name for the Golf course. Everyone is encouraged to enter. All you have to do is to send a name in an envelope, with your name attached, to either Jack Thomas or Ross Mitchell. The winner will receive a free membership for 1964, In case of a tie or ties, the names will be put in a hat and the name drawn will be given the free membership. This contest is open to everyone, so come on both children and adults and start sending those names in. CURLING NEWS (Continued from Page 5) Our local Men's Club Bonspiel gets underway to-night at 7:00 p.m. It will continue Friday evening and finish Saturday night with a social. Players are cautioned not to appear before 6:45 p.m. this evening as the Curling Lounge has been leased up until this time. The Challenge Curling will be coming up some Saturday in the near future. At this time the various departments or sections of the mill or townsite have the privilege of challenging any other group. Whether you belong to administration, supervision, mechani cal or electrical; - whether you are a merchan teacher, nurse, doctor, or garage-owner, there is a place for everyone in this day of recrea- tion and sportsmanship. Start arranging teams now. Perhaps your group could put up two teams, This was a big day last year. - Let's make it bigger ? The Longlac Spiel has been postponed until the 2lst of March or thereabouts. Try to plan ahead and reserve this week-end for a fine three-event mixed bonspiel.
