January CHRISTMAS PARTIES AND CONCERTS HELD Hi-C's and their guests enjoyed a Christmas party in St. Andrew's United Church hall with the evening spent playing games and dancing. Spot dances were won by David Winters, Darrylynn Weaver, Shirley Haight, lan Macadam, Ken Martinson, Shirley Haight. A skit "The man with the purple hangnail" was presented by Boyd Drake, Richard and David Bur- roughs, Dennis Hagen and Jerry Lesauvage. Bill and Shirley Haight of Trenton Hi-C's were the guests of Jeanne McCuaig. Fraser Muldrew and Mrs. W. Duncan, Counsellors. Santa attended the Christmas party held by the Knights of Columbus in the Guild Hall recently. Children and parents gazed in wonder as Santa made a traditional entry down the chimney. He distributed candy and presents to the 130 good boys and girls; and then left in a flash - to prepare for his trip on December 24th. Around 130 children attended the Schreiber Legion Christmas party when Santa paid a visit and distri- buted gifts and candy. Prior to Santa's arrival, the children were entertained by a film shown by Jack Handel. Sandwiches and pop were served by mem- bers of the Ladies' Auxiliary. CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS BEST EVER Starting with the giant gaily lighted tree in front of the Town Hall, colored lights and decorations radiated in all directions as private citizens and business premises outdid the efforts of other years. Judges in the Schreiber Hydro Commission lighting contest had difficulty in (Continued) 2, 1964 May the merrymaking for the arrival of the New Year signify the beginning of twelve months filled with glorious opportunities for "GOLDEN HAND" PRESENTED The "Golden Hand" the highest and last award to be secured by a Brownie was presented to Jane Bai- ley by Madam Commissioner, Mrs. Shirley Mikus, (Terrace Bay) at the last regular meeting of the Brownies. Also honored were Kathy Guina and Ruth Fadden who received their Golden Bars, presented by Brown Owl Mrs. G. Cebrario. Brown Owl Mrs. W. Stefurak enrolled tweenies into first and second Schreiber C.W.L. packs. The Brownie story play was presented by all mem- bers of the first pack and between acts, Lola Scott read the Christmas poem and Cindy Einarson read the Christmas story. Also assisting with the girls were Tawny Owls Mrs. H. Shack, Mrs. R. Sisson, Mrs. R. Fournier. Following the meeting, the Golden Bar brownies served lunch to the parents and guests present. Mrs. H. Stewart and Mrs. P. Humenicki assisted in the kitchen. CiP.T A. Meer A capacity crowd was present for the regular meeting of the Catholic Parent Teachers Association and the annual Christmas concert presented by the pupils of Holy Angels School, directed by the Rev. Sisters and the teaching staff. Father J. M. Cano gave the opening prayer and R. Campbell presided for the meeting. A minute's silence was observed and prayers recited for the late L. Comeau. C. Martin welcomed parents and friends to the concert following the meeting. The Girls' Choir sang four selections under the direction of Sister Frances Joseph. A rhythm band composed of pupils . from Mrs. D. Figliomeni's room played Jingle Bellis. Grade 1 pupils under the direction of Sister St. Donald, performed a square dance. Mrs. Figlio- meni's pupils recited a Santa Claus rhyme and sang a Christmas tree song. Grade 8 pupils presented a play "A modern Mary and Joseph" directed by Sister Frances Joseph. The Santa Claus draw was won by Pam and Patty Nesbitt and the hamper by Mrs. R. Lamoureux: (Continued)
