Secretary Strutt dealt with the corresp- ondence recéived, Northwestern Ontario Development Association solicited the Terrace Bay Columunity membership, A request. from the Salvation Army in the Lakehead was deferred due to the present large donation made annual- ly a the Kimberly-Clark Employees Charity Fund, Reeve Heenan wrote to Mr, McKinnon of the Department of Lands and: Forests requesting further details on the relocation of the Pays Plat Division at Terrace Bay. The 'Horticultural Society sought permis- sion to work on the triangle in front of the Community Church, making it a Community show- piece. Permission was granted and Councillor Evans-Smith will enquire re maintenance through the town's groundsman, Councillor Fraser presented'a report from Fire Chief Hofland listing an enrolment of twelve from the Fire Department, plus himself and Police Chief Billings in the St, John Ambulance Course, Council approved a of this course, Councillor Valiquette reported on his Meeting, together with Councillor Wellings with the Police Department, He presented the Police Department's budget for 1961 and the proposed budget 'for 1962 'together with a suggested agreement between the Police Chief and the Township. These were deferred for the special meeting for budgets. Enquiry on the By-Law for the Trailer Park was made by Councillor Evans-Smith and Mr, Strutt announced their solicitor' was at present preparing same. Reeve Heenan reported two representatives from the Chamber of Commerce would be present at a Council meeting to discuss this subject. Councillor Wellings requested information on budget presentation as chairman of Public Works, Water and Sanitation, Reeve Heenan advised an estimate be prepared on amount | to be undertaken for the year. The special meeting for Budgets was set for Wednesday, January 3lst at 7,00 P.M. Ontario Hydro Commission rates accepted last' year ($35.40 per Kilowatt) commencing January 1, 1962, were discussed thoroughly by Council and the proposed new town rates-- _ thereby accepted, Council felt advance information from Hydro could have prevented depletion of this surplus, However, Reeve Heenan pointed out the increased rates would Still be considerably less than those of 195 and the likely changeover from the Sub-.
