The resulting casualties and persons forced to flee their homes would have to be cared for by the communities such as those in our District. In October, 1951 the Terrace Bay Private Hospital was officially opened, In December, 1951 the Terrace Bay Community Church was. officially opened. Ten years later, 1961 there was still a great deal of construction going on in-the District, Additions were made to the three schools, a motel was erected and opened for business, another is presently under construc- tion, a Building Supply Centre housing also an Electrical Supply and Paint Shop. was opened in the industrial area, and several new homes were built, 1962 USHERED IN Approximately 250 couples enjoyed the Curling Club's Annual New Year's Eve Ball , over the holiday weekend, Novelties and noisemakers added to the merriment as 1961 gave way to the New Year at the stroke of midnight, Members of the Terrace Bay Moose Lodges and their guests staged a New Year's Frolic on the same evening in the Moose Hall. Here too gaiety reigned supreme as the New Year was. ushered in,. A delightful climax to the festive season awaited those who attended the Candlelight Buffet prepared by the Staff of the Terrace | Bay Motor Hotel on New Year's Day. The popping of.gaily colored crackers which produced hats and. novelties preceded a repast the like of which has never before been seen in this locality.
