*% .™~ Vol.4, No.46 HOCKEY STARTS IN TERRACE BAY SUPERIORS BEAT FORT WILLIAM CANADIANS The Hockey season began last Sunday with an exhibition game between the Terrace Bay Superiors and Fort William Canadians which ended 6 - 3 in favour of the last year North Shore Champs. Superiors were not by any stretch of the imagination in playing condition, having had but four times on the ice this season. They did, however, keep pace with the Canadians for the better part of two periods and resorted to quick changes for the rest of the game, Canadians were no slouches as opposition; this being their first defeat of the season with six starts, and are probably in the shape that Superiors will not reach for the next month, The nearly 500 fans were not disappointed in the type of hockey displayed, Superiors took an early lead in the first with Brassard and McLeod each getting a goal before the game was seven minutes old. Walchuk and. Milliard put the Canadians even before the period ended. . Massaro opened the second period by putting the Sups up again but had the lead again cut off when Malloy broke past Hansen to beat Dobson. It was the last Canadian successful attempt. Tookenay and Adamo put the Superiorsup by two before the end of the period. Massaro got his second goal of the game in the only tally of the third, Coach Dave Whalen is smiling a little more freely now after seeing Massaro fitting | into the spot vacated by Ron Schock, Hansen was back on defence again after sitting out last. season; rookies Woodruff and Gresdal filling in on the defence and forward lines made good showingsin the company they were keeping. As much can be said for Terrace Bay's Don Fedun now with Canadians, and not letting down predictions, Brassard and Pollard can be credited with keeping the visitors from giving Dobson a = more trouble than he got, FLASH3} The Canadians will be a next Sunday, Nov.26th - out for revenge.
