Evans-Smith, J. Heenan and D, Gilles. Minutes of the last regular meeting were perused and accepted. Correspondence included a request from Mr. Donald MacKay of-Sault Ste. Marie for permis- sion to build living quarters above the Souvenir and Gift Shop he plans to erect in Terrace Bay, Council replied outlining the Building and Fire Marshall's Code for such a residence, Replying to a letter from Mrs. C. Buck, of the Registered Nurses in Terrace Bay, Mr, Paul Wark EMO stated he would be pleased to speak before the people of Terrace Bay and would arrange a date before the end of the year. Two grants were received by Council, the first in lieu of taxes on the Department of Highway's garage and dwelling and the second the "Unconditional Grant*? received annually. Permission-was granted to the Canadian Legion Branch 223 to sell Poppies November 8 to 10. Notice was posted to Garage Owners to clear out any unsightly vehicles from their premises! The Police Report submitted by Chief Constable Billings for the month of October showed a sharp decline in Police activities. All criminal reports received during the month were of a minor nature. District Magistrate T, Connor held Court three times in October hearing fifteen cases, consisting mainly of traffic violations. Fire Department's report for October from the Town Fire Chief R. Hofland detailed the Campaign during Fire Prevention week, A request was made to remove one man from the Volunteer Fire Brigade and another appointed to bring the Brigade up to full strength.
