Camera fans are invited to exhibit their photographs at this show, and may do so by ANNIVERSARY SERVICES HELD IN COMMUNITY CHURCH Sunday, October 15 was Anniversary Sunday for the Terrace Bay Community Church, It was the fourteenth Anniversary of the Com munity Church Congregation and the tenth Anniversary of the present Community Church Building. For the occasion, Rev. Arthur S. Lavender, D.D., the beloved pastor of this church from 1947 to.1960, was invited to assist the present minister, Rev. J, Ray Anderson, by preaching at the morning and evening services, and to participate in the Fellowship Hour which followed the evening service, During the morning service Dr. Lavender, assisted by Mr. E. Rowson, Chairman of the Church Board, dedicated a' stained glass ' window "The Resurrection", placed there by himself to the memory of his wife Irma, his mother Blanche, and his son Stanley, all of whom passed away during his pastorate in the Thunder Bay area. Very timely topics were chosen for each sermon, "God was in Christ" at the morning service, and "Spititual Hitchhikers" at the evening. The Senior Choir, with Mrs, Ellen Hodgkiss at the organ, rendered the inspirational anthem "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" in the first service and during the evening the Children's Choir sang "Lord I Adore Thee"t as their Anthem, The Fellowship Hour-which followed the Eventide Service was as well attended as each of the day*s Services had been, with parish- dners from Terrace Bay joined by parishioners from Dr, Lavender*s former pastorate in Schreiber, and many of the young people away working or at school returning home for this special occasion. Welcoming the parishioners and guests was the pastor, Rev. Anderson who opened with a word of prayer. Words of welcome were also expressed by the Chairman of the Church Board, Mr, E. Rowson. Movies of the retirement party held in Terrace Bay for Dr, Lavender were shown followed by slides taken by Dr. Lavender of his new home and community in Mount Forest, Ontario, Kev. Anderson concluded the program with the Benediction. A buffet luncheon was served. Lunch convenors were Mesdames G. Galvin and E,Young, with Mesdames R, Anderson, G, Partington, E, Rowson, K, Ward, C,. Smith and A,Berndtsson replenishing. WAINWRIGHT The funeral of Mrs. Jack Wainwright, whose death occurred suddenly at her home in Terrace Bay, Monday, October 9 was conducted Thursday morning October 12 in the Terrace Bay Commun- ity Church by Rev. J.R. Anderson. Hymns chosen for the service were "Old Rugged Cross* and "Rock of Ages", Mrs. 5S. Hodgkiss was the organist. Pallbearers were Alex Crawford, Cliff Wood, B. Thorsteinson, Joe Campbell, Dan MacFadyen and Nick Chopty. Interment followed in Mountain View Cemetery, Fort William, Thurs. aftcrn'on, with the Rev. Anderson taking the graveside service, Surviving Mrs. Wainwright is her husband Jack, one daughter Myrna of Espanola, Ont. She was predeceased by a son John in June of 1948. Relatives of both Mr, and Mrs. Wainwright from Vancouver, Brandon, Winnipeg and the Lakehead attended the service in Terrace Bay, On Thursday, Oct. 12th, at the regular | meeting held in the Schreiber Town Hall | assembly rooms, the Officers of St. Edward's j Council No. 3554, Schreiber,-Terrace Bay, -- officially installed for the current term.
