The Ladies 'Invitational' Bonspiel takes place this weekend in Terrace Bay with twen- ty seven rinks from Chapleau, WaWa, Heron Bay South, Red Rock, Port Arthur, Fort Will- iam, Marathon, Schreiber, Manitouwadge, ~ Geraldton and Rossport participating. Five local rinks are also entered in the 'Spiel. Accommodations have been arranged for some of the visitors at the Hotel Terrace, two rinks in the Schreiber Hotel and the remainder in private homes, The Bonspicl will get under way on Fri- day morning when the first rock will be thrown by Hd. Cavanaugh of the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee. . On Saturday at 6,30 P.M. a Banquet will be staged in the Hotel Terrace and later the same evening a mixed social will be held in the Curling Club Lounge for visitors, curlers and friends. This event will be strictly adult enter- tainment,. We acknowledge that each rink can't win but wish for all a successful and enjoyable visit to Terrace Bay. LUNCH PAILS 10 PALEFACES 2 IN 9TH ANNUAL HOCKEY CLASSIC On Thursday night in the Terrace Bay Arena the annual battle for that coveted S.H. Memorial Trophy took place, The lunch Pails came up with another big win to give them the edge in the series six games to three, However, we have been informed that this annual classic is a best out of 109 games, Nine annual games have been played to date so that, within the next hundred years, we will have a series winner, Some of the present players, by the.» performances, look like they have "played" in it for 109 con- secutive years, No doubt the Palefaces will come back strong one of these years-~and all hockey fans are looking forward (and backward) to ° the day when the series is tied at 54 games each--then there will be a sudden death playoff or a death playoff. Improvement District of Terrace Bay to be | converted into a Township has been approved.
