The visitors were entertained at a dinner in the Hotel Terrace. on March 19th, Mr, R.G, Shirriff, Mill Manager, officially welcomed the guests on behalf of the: niber SC Lark Pulp and Paper Compenrs MENTAL HEALTH MEETING NEXT TUESDAY Mr. Hugh. Cook, President of the Mental Health Association in the Lakehead, will be the guest speaker at an open meeting to be held on 'Tuesday; March 3lst at 8:15 P.M. in the Terrace Bay High School Auditorium. He will 'speak to the people of Terrace Bay and adjoining districts concerning the activities of the Mental Health Association in the Thunder Bay District. Mr. Cook will be presented with a cheque for the monies raised by the North Shore Nurses Group in Marathon, Schreiber and © Terrace Bay. This very timely topic should prove very interesting and everyone is welcome, There is no eae fee, _ J. FERRIER ADDRESSES HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY A highly interesting meeting was held Friday. evening in the Recreation Centre's meeting room by the Terrace Bay Horticultural Society when Mr, John Ferrier' addressed the -- members on future plans for facial improve- ments to Terrace Bay and it's immediate vicinity, Points of local interest were thoroughly discussed, many of them particu- larly for the members concerning beautifying shopping, Recreation and Hospital frontage and parking areas; several areas will be leveled and cleared to present a glade rather than the present bushy appearance. The Board of Trustees, | which Mr.Ferrier presently heads, .is most enthusiastic about any spots the Horticultural Society wish to improve and they are willing to discuss any plans end suitable working arrangement, _ Mr, Ferrier also stated much a activity would be seen with highway work this summer Vol.2, No.12 were in favour of the organization but, be- March 26, -1959 - and a great deal of face lifting is under discussion with the overpass, the Railway _approach and the highway in this vicinity. Mrs. J.A.Taylor of Toronto of the Secondary: Schools Home and School Associations of Ont,, © presided at the organizational meeting of the | Schreiber Association on March 16th. Mrs. Taylor said she was honoured to be present at | this meeting since it was the first such association in Thunder Bay district, includ- : ing Fort William and Port Arthur. She stated | it was customary for the school Principal to preside at such occasions but Mr.Meek had | | sent wort he was too busy to attend.
