Phone 233. 0-0-0 + ae HORTICULTURAL SOCTETY I have been asked, this Christmas season, regarding information abo. poinsettias. Poinsettias are the hide decorative of all plants for the Christmas season, and if conditions are favorable it is possible to have well~grown, specimen plants even in the small greenhouse. PROPAGATION: Poinsettias are prop- agated by cutting taken from mature stock plants, After the flowering season is over, the stock plants are usually lifted and placed under'a bench f6r a period of ten or twelve weeks, The plants should be kept very dry, not dry enough, however, to allow the wood.to shrivel, Prune back. heavily before replanting about the first of April, The first cuttings may be 'taken early in July, Cuttings should be well rooted and ready for potting in about three weeks, The plants may be shifted into larger pots as they develop or they may be benched, The plants are extremely sensitive to drafts, and are very easily injured by _ chilling or by overwatering, Under such conditions the leaves will turn yellow and drop. =i, If further information .is wished for, bring it up at our next Horticultural Meeting, and we will prepare a pamphlet on Poinsettias, The annual meeting will be held on January 18th, 1957, at 8,00 P;5M. at which time there will be Committee Reports and Election of Officers. mg) A.
