NORTH SHORE HOCKEY LEAGUE STARTS DECEMBER L Mr, D. C. Porter, President of the North Shore Hockey League will face the puck at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17th in the Terrace Bay Memorial Arena to open the 60 game 1955-56 schedule of the North Shore Hockey. League. The.opening game will be Terrace Bay "Superiors" rT Gerald- ton "Goldminers", 'The five member 'clubs in this League have strenghtened their rosters over last season; and fans are promised a well balanced: league with a high brand of hockey. It is expected that the record of paid . admissions of 50,000 for last season will be surpassed this year. 1 For the first time in the history . of the North Shore Hockey League pocket schedules will be issued to Member Clubs, . These pocket schedules were made possible through the compliments of Lakehead Freight- Ways o The 20 year old Jas, A, Therrien Trophy which was presented to the North 'Shore Hockey League when it was first formed a few years ago will be presented to the team lead- ing the league at the end of the schedule, This year Carling Breweries Limited through their District Sales Manager, Floyd B, Davis, have given the league the Carling Red Cap Trophy to be presented to the Champions of the North Shore Hockey League, Also for the first time, Carlings are presented the Carl- ing Trophy for the Rookie of the Year for annual competition, To be eligible. for this Trophy a player must be playing his first. season in the North Shore Hotkey League and not have had any previous experience on any Intermediate team or up. Other. trophies which have been in competition in previous years are: The Nesco Trophy to the Best Goal- keeper; The O'Keefe Trophy to the Leading. Scorer; the P,.J, Kapitan TRAPhY, to the Most Sportsmanlike Player.
