Lakehead Women's Bonspiel, held'on March 17th, 18th : and' 19th in the Port Arthur and Fort William Curling Rinks... Despite unfavourable ice conditions, the log al teams displayed some fine curling, Out of 56 rinks entered in, the Bonspiel Betty Jesspp's rink placed 4th in the 2nd Event, and Peggy welling's rink placed first in the 4th event. The Welling's rink had a fine record having 7 wins and 1 loss. CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Skipped by Peggy Wellings, the Terrace : Bay rink of Ann Latour, third, Ida Romaniuk second, and Nat Coates lead, are to commend- ed for their excellent showing in this highly contested event. The local quartet got off to a good start Tuesday morning, March 15th, defeating Mrs. Watt's, McKenzie Island entry. Later that aftermoon, they repeated their performance by defeating Mrs, Hall's entry from Red Rock, Playing their third game of the day, the local-girls lost to Mrs, Fogagth's entry from the Lakehead, Wednes-~ day morning, the Terrace Bay rink defeated hrs. Lund's rink from Rainy River, giving them a record.of : 3%wins: and' 1..Loss, The Lakehead entry went on to win the champ- ionship by defeating Mrs, Watt's, McKenzie island.
