NORTH SHORE HOCKEY LEAGUE Terpdce Ba + Geraldton: In one of the best games seen in Terrace Bay this season the Superiers in 10 minutes of overtime on Saturday night defeated Geraldton Goldminers 4-3, After a fairly slow first peried in which each team scored one goal - for Terrace Bay, Moro unassisted and for Geraldton, Rusnak unassisted, The teams swung into high gear. and played a very e¢rowd pleasing brand of hockey - fast and clean, The second period saw Geraldton score their last 2 goals, Macdonald from Duczeminski while Terrace Bay picked up one goal Bond from Desrosiers and Stachiw, Thomson in the Geraldton nets was practically unbeatable as he stopped the Superiors repeatedly especially the. rink length rushes.of Moro, _ After 12 minutes of a scoreless third period the Superiors tied the game Moro from Desrosiers and although both teams played hard the end of regulation time saw the score tied 3 all, In the overtime stanza the Superiors scored the only goal credit going to Bond unassisted at 6:16 and although Geraldton took Thomson out of the nets with 40 seconds left to play they were unable to beat Weaver as the game ended 4=36 For Geraldton Thomson was a standeut in the nets while Rusnak added to his points with a goal and Duczeminski gathered 2 assists, The line of Hayes, Bond and Stachiw stood out for Terrace Bay while Moro playing his usual flashy game, Referees Ross and Pineault handed out 5 penalties 3 to Terrace and 2 to Geraldton, all wore.minors, Page 10 NORTH SHORE HOCKEY LEAGUE (Cont. ) Nipigon 8 - Terrace Bay 4 Sunday afternoon Nipigon Flyers defeated the Supsriors 8-4 in another clean fast game which saw Moro add to his pranhe with 2 goals and an assist, In the first period Nipigon collected 4 goals - Kotzma (2) Oja and Ahl scoring while for Terrace Bay Diduch and cued Bare: collected one. he The second period opened with 'Mok getting the first goal, Moro from Osmar and Diduch while Penziwol and Dunnville picked up one each, The last period was even as far as goals went one to Nipigon Dupuis from H,. Manilla and for Terrace Diduch from Brassard. There were only 3 penalties awarded in the game all to Nipigon. Terrace Ba Schreiber Tuesday night the old rivals Terrace Bay and Schreiber met for the last time this season with the Superiors coming out on top 5-3. For the first time in the North Shore. History the game was handled by 3 officials a referee and 2 linesmen on a trial basis and while the game ws= well handled by the officials the crowd had difficulty under- standing why the linesmen were not handing out penalties, The first period opened with Schreiber scoring at 3:39, Tookenay from Souliere and Bottomley from Fisher and Souliere at 14.52. The Superiors came back to score 2 fast goals in 13 seconds, Bond unassisted and Desrosiers from Stachiw while Cosgrave and Tookenay for Schreiber received penalties in this period, In a fast second' period Terrace Bay took the lead with goals by Bond from Stachiw and Osmar and Payette from Hayes while Schreiber again led the penalty parade with Tookenay getting his second and third of the night and Fisher drawing a misconduct while Desrosiers was the only ouperior player to visit the box, The final period saw Cataford in the Schreiber nets turn back a rain of rubber as Terrace scored once McEwan from Hanley while Figliomeni accounted for the last Schreiber goal assisted by Fisher. Penalties in this period were 3 for Terrace Brassard, Lang and Osmar and one for Schreiber to Souliere, For the Schreiber team the standout player of the night was Cataford in the nets while (Cont. on page 1))
