Marion Northrop, a-violinist, was .born in Saskatchewan, made her home in Regina, Previous.to coming to Toronto _ Miss Northrop war a pupil of K. Knight Wilson in Regina where she was a member of the Symphony Orchestra performing as guest soloist, She came to Toronto in 1950 and commenced to study with Geza de Kresz, In 1951 she was accepted into.the Artists Diploma Course at the Conservatory and devotes full time to music study. She has also been principal violinist in the Regina Conservatory String Orchestra. She was presented in a solo recital at the Conservatory in Toronto and at the Art Gallery. : Miss Northrop's latest appearances were at the Canadian National Exhibition (1954) where she won the senior violin scholarship, and also presented a recital in the music amphitheatre, and at the Conservatory in November last. 0-0-0 FIGURE SKATING CARNIVAL TO BE PRESENTED BY LOCAL CLUB _A general meeting of the Terrece Bay Figure Skating Club was held in the Recs reation Centre meeting room on February 16, 1955 at 8:00 p.m. The local club is now in the process of carnival rehearsals for a small presentation at the local Kiwanis Club Carnival on March 19th, The Club Pro- fessional, Ivy Pattison, is now in the process of casting the skaters in the various numbers, If you do not wish your child to appear in this carnival, please phone Betty Austin at the Persennel Office 216, or Hotel Terrace 210, Floor rehearsals as well as ice rehearsals are now taking place and all parents are urged to have their children in attendance at all figure skating sessions as well as any floor rehearsals as requested, as our practice time for this carnival is running short, Costumes are being designed for the various numbers and each parent will be responsible to have a costume made for their child as per designs supplied, A coztume convenor will be chesen for each group and will be contacting you to ex- plain how the costume is to be made and (Cont. on next col.) All tickets must be picked up not later than Saturday February 26th, in order to receive your weekly lesson, attend figure skating sessions, and 'skate in this carnival. Tickets are pur- chased one month in advance. Therefore, you must purchase 5 tickets at the cost of $250 which will cover your lessons for March, Ladies of the figure skating club will be in attendance in the lobby of the Récreation Centre at the following times to 'sell these tickets: Fri, Feb, 25 - between 3:00 and 5:00 pem Mrs. J.
