TRACK AND FIELD RESULTS Those of our hardier inhabitants who braved the chill and the odd shower last Friday saw some excellent com- petition at the annual track and field meet between the Schreiber and Terrace Bay Continuation schools, You may remember, last week, that Terrace Bay felt quite confident of being able to win the Kiwanis Trophy this year, We apparently failed to take into consideration the equal con- fidence of Schreiber, In any case, when President Paul Boudreau of the Kiwanis club made the presentation at the party that evening, it was a Schreiber student who accepted the trophy. Now we have & whole year to wait before we can hope to put that trophy on display in our show case, The total number of points for Schreiber was 237 (boys - 116; girls - 121); our total was 158 (boys - 100; girls - 58) Schreiber likewise produced three of the four champions - Jr, Girl - Vicky Fadden (27 points), Sr. Girl - Sherrill Sly (23 points) and Jr. Boys - Eddie Sheehan (30 points) The Sr. Boys! championship was won by Ray Husband (20 points) who is proving himself to be an outstanding long distance runner, It was a good Meet. If we had to lose, it was no disgrace to come second to such athletes as the Schreiber students, 0-0-0 Page 3 INTER-SGHOOL COMPETITION -l. With a great deal of pleasure this time, we report that our boys won ' the deciding game in Touch Rugby and forthe second year are the holders ofthe Schreiber Kinsmen's Six-man ' Touch Rugby Trophy. It is a quirk of fate that we can't win our Kiwanis Trophy while Schreiber can't win the Kinsmen's Trophy. 2- We have to wait until next week to report on the success or failure of our girls softball championship, To date our girls have won one and lost two close games, This Friday, at 4, may decide. To round off the season, the boys will play a final exhibition game of Touch Rugby. 0-0-0 COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES The parents of the Continuation School students are cordially invited to attend our Commencement Exercises to be held on Friday, November 5th, at 8:00 pem. A sincere welcome is also extended to all others who may be interested, o-0-0 DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CONCERT We had hoped to be able to include an outline of the program of our first concert, to be held next Wednesday, at 8:15. However, the program has failed to arrive in time for this week's News so that we shall just report that we shall have four artists - a pianist, a soprano, a violinist, and a Bass, If you have attended one of these concerts previously, you will know that each of these artists will be excellent; if you have not been interested before, make it a point to attend this concert and find out for yourself how good they are. 0-0-0 LOST Between the Bay and Elizabeth Avenue a small rubber doll was lost.
