/% Liv tLe LEAGUE Bru pbEBALL SCHREIBER WIN LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP In what proved to be one of the best games of the year Terrace Bay Indians lost out to Schreiber in an exciting 10 inning game last Saturday by a score of i) e Terrace Bay got away to a good start in the first inning when Joey Wig first man up hit safely and Ronnie Schock hit a home run, however the next three men were out on three good plays by Schreiber, Schreiber got the two runs back in the 3rd inning on an error and a hit; In their half of the 4th Terrace Bay added their final run and heid che lead until the last of the 6ta when with 2 out and 2 strikes on the batter a routine out got away from the lst baseman the ball rolling out to right field, Our catcher failed to hold a perfect throw by Joey Wig and the tying run was Atay, Neither side scored again till the 10th. Bobbi Semeniuk playing centre field - Colin Craig at short - Joey Wig at second all made some spectacular catches to hold Schreiber scoreless in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings, In the 10th the first 2 men for Terrace hit safely but the next 2 etruck out and the third was out on a pop up fly. In Schreibers half of the 10th Moore walked the first 2 men (he only walked one other man) and a hard hit grounder bounced past the shortstop and the winning run was in, Well done Schreiber ~-- Better luck next year Terrace, _- -- = HARDBALL ASSOCIATION PRESENTS TROPHIES AT WIND-UP SUPPER Friday evening September 24th the Terrace Bay Hardball Association held its annual windup suoper when some one hundred and twenty baseball players and guests enjoyed a buffet style supper in the High School Auditorium. Bill Borsum as master of ceremonies thanked all who had helped in any way in making 195:. such a successful baseball season in Terrace Bay pointing out that the Senior team had won the championship trophy em .amatic of the North Shore Senior Championship and that the Little League team was playing in the finals for a similiar trophy, Johnny Schritt as team captain accepted the trophy on behalf ae the senior team, (Cont. on next col,) Page 5 HARDBALL .ASSOCIATION PRESENTS TROPHIES "AT ANNUAL WIND-UP SUPPER (Cont.) The Big moment for the Little Leaguers was the awarding of the most valuable player award, Mr. Borsum pointed out that the:players voted on this and would take into consider- ation - team play - good all around sportsmanship and leadership, After a very close vote: conducted by the school principals it was found that- Colin Craig had won the coveted award - a beautiful fielders glove donated by our genial friend Clarence Buck, To wind up a busy evening a film of the 1953 World Series- was shown. 0-0-0 BASEBALL ASSOCIATION DANCE On Friday, September 24th a very successful dance was held by the Association. Winner of the door prizes were: Joe Wig - the Mixmaster and Roland Gauthier - ne travel Alarm Clock, The Baseball Association appreciat . the support of the public in their efforts, 0-0-0 RECREATION FLYER This is to inform all the tennis players in our town that the tennis courts are now closed for the season, Now is the time to store that racket and take part in some"other recreativd7 activity. The gym club got underway last Thursday night in the Continuation Scnool gym at 8:00 p.m, with a showing of about 20 interested men trying to either take off those extra pounds or just to have some fun, As long as you are a member of the Recreation Association you can participate in this men's night. Volley ball, Basket ball, and Tumbling, are the activities we are programming for. If these interest you don't wait for a personal invitation just come on out to the school to-night, at 8:00'p.m. There are showers available so bring a towel and a bar of soap with you, o-0-0
