FIGURE SKATZRS WIND UP SEASON The last. session of the Figure Skating Club of Terrace Bay was held at the Schreiber "Arena last Sunday with approximately 70 | skaters in attendance, Fine weather found the pupils dressed. in their skating 'skirts and outfits, twirling about_the icé like miniature "Barbara Anns", . .. | This segsion completed one-of the. most . Successful seasons experienced to date, and ib is felt that with the opening .of,the new - Community Centre here in Terrace Bay in the Fall, a great many more ofthe younger set will take advantage. of the.facilities which will be available, and that we can expect bigger and better things forthe future, Special thanks are extended to. Fred Soughton and John Wade for their: attendance at the above session to snap pictures-for the coming issue of "Co-op" magazine.~ As mentioned in last week's "News", it is expected that the next issue of "Co-ap" will feature Figure Skating in Terrace Bay, and many fine pictures will accompany the article, Sat haere Meany hours of planning and work have gone into the job of organizing and opera- ting this Club and without the help of numerous townspeople, who so unselfishly donated their time and cars, this job. could not have been accommplished, So to those of you who so kindly offered the use of your car, we of the executive, say "Thank You"J A special vote of thanks to Art Reynolds who was in charge of the transportation problem, for his co-operation and untiring efforts in this regard, Thanks also are extended to Dot Dalzell, our Secretary- Treasurer, for her work in handling the membership dues and financial 'matters of the Club, to Mrs, Dorsa Caldwell -of Schreiber, for the arrangements made with the Schreiber Rink Board and the organization of the skaters in Schreiber and also to the other members:of the executive, Mrs, J, Cumming, Mrs Do.C. The future hockey greats desire -your suppert so come on fans back them up _by your presence there, _ Their coaches, Tony Fedun and Dr, Hugh Campbell, deserve a great deal of credit for their time and efforts in all kinds of weather to give these boys the basic training in good sportsmanship and teamwort:, Fans, it is up to you to show a little appreciation and back the boys in their attempt to retain the Mayfair Trophy, .0=0-0 PEEWER HOCKEY NEWS _ On Wednesday, March 3rd, the Maple Leafs and Black Hawks took each other on for the second time of the finals. Just to -shew that Monday night's victory was not a fluke, those never-say-die Black Hawks turned on the pressure from the opening whistle, Norman Vezina put them one up Shortly after the game got under way, and despite a great deal of strategy on the part of the Leafs, the Hawks hung on to ith. bitter. end, During the final period, when the Leafs were. putting on a terrific power play, Ed Linkwich grabbed a loose puck in front of the Leaf cage and fired an insurance marker for the Hanks, It is hard to pick individual stars from this game, but it seems fitting to mention one or two, Doug McKay played an outstanding game in the Hawk net.
