Production -- Mother Nature Direction -- The Elements Cast - Mrs, Lillian Ranta, Dr. Thompson, segan, Ontario, Pilot Godsey, Dr, McCausland, Dr. Hugh Campbell. One Helicopter, and supporting players of the LongLac Pulp and Paper Company. A long distance call from Regan, Ont,, 89 rail miles from Terrace Bay, to Dr. Mc- Causland, Permission asked and granted to fly Mrs. Ranta to the Terrace Bay Hospital for emergency treatment, Pilot Gadsey took off from Regan at 9:00 a.m. in a blinding snow storm with sub zero temperature with the patient Mrs. Ranta aboard and Dx, Thompson of Regan, Ontario. The quipment of the LongLac Pulp & Paper Co. was alerted. One hundred square feet of space required for a landing!!! At this the mill bulldozers began clearing a landing strip!! Ambulance crew alerted!! At 10:00 a.m, the Service Dvpartment was scanning the sky anxiously. Helicopter could be heard but not seen, Landing strip prepared at mill. Suddenly the helicopter is down!! Where!! Practically at the hospi- tal door. Ambulance rushes to Helicopter. Mrs. Ranta is taken to the warmth and secur- ity of the Terrace Bay Hospital where the staff gave her their efficient attention, Blood don rs are rushed from the LongLac Mill to help in the battle. Mission accomplished. Pilot of the Helicopter to be congratulated on a job well done under very difficult conditions. The star of the drama, Mrs. Ranta is still in the Terrace Bay Hospital and her condition is reported as good, LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY ar 0957 BATTLE OF THE BLIZZARD (cont.) The other stars, Pilot Godsey and his heli- copter gave us all an example of top per- formance in an emergency. Not to forget the thrill he gave the children when he "parked" his helicopter on the school grounds, Dr. Thompson returned with the heli- copter to Regan, Ontario, So another "first" in the history of Terrace Bay has been accomplished, and most satisfactorily. 0-0-0 LARGE FIGURE SKATING TURNOUT A large crowd of approximately 65 children attended the first figure skating session at the Schreiber Arena last Sunday in spits of the bitter cold below zero weather, Plans for this coming Sunday, January 17th, have been completed and skating will be from 10:00 A.M., to 2:00 P.M. One Lour has been cut off our time due to the hockey game which will be played Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m, We are again happy to announce that our professional, Mrs, Marlyn Spiess, will again be be in attendance, and all those who have already booked their lessons with the professional are asked to be on hand early for their lessons, as several new skaters will be in attendance this Sunday and as notelabove, our skating time will be limited, Cars will be on hand at the Public School at 9:30 a.m. for transportation of those skaters who are not attending Sunday School, and at 10:30 a.m. for those child- ren attending Sunday School.
