Page 2 ° NOTES IN PASSING Y'know there really is a whole lot of happiness in this Town, I mean by real happiness, -= not just joy over some newly acquired toy or per- "THE PASSERBY" sonal property, -- but real honest-to-goodness happiness, This happi- ; ness is truly deep rooted because it shines out all over you good people, --And, we're not talking through the proverb%al hat, neither, because for some months now we have made a secret survey and have found nil hatreds and nil deep dislikes, --Sure, we'll admit that maybe you don't like the way that some person walks, or their viewpoint on certain matters, (this is entirely normal, you know), but you really wouldn't do that person any harm would you? Talking about surveys; --- why don't you run one on this business of happiness in our Town?? Here's what to do: just go around and watch people at 'dances and other public functions; see how they seem to be having fun; note the smiles; go over and talk to them; and when you're all finished go home and tabulate it all in your own mind and see if weltre not right. Go on, we dare youl! Let's look at it another way. You and I, and all of us, "crab" about different things that aren't quite right hereabouts, ond we sometimes say, - "Oh, it used to be this way, or that way, back in the old "Home Town", But, did all those things that were so much better back there add up to all the joy and stuff that there is around here?? And just think how much bétter it's going to be when we get all those little comforting devices around our homes, We are happy here,--not just because it's Terrace Bay, but simply because the peoplé who live here are the types who know how to be happy, and who would be happy any place, We love our wives and our husbands and our children, and we are proud of our neigh- bours,--so why not tell the world about it??? This is exactly what the writer is doing, and he's darn happy and proud to be able to do it, tool! o-0-0 CORRECTION In last week's News, it was reported that the immediate Past District Gover nor, Mr, Harry Irving,:.would present the Charter to the local Kiwanis Club, This was in error, as Mr, Irving is the present District Governor, o-0-0 LEGION NEWS At the last Executive Committee meeting, plans were discussed for a full day's programme to be held on Dominion Day this year. As the details are completed, they will be published in the News. 0-0-0 : TEEN TOWNERS (TRIPLE T'S) All "Triple T's" are asked to have their application forms in by the Saturday night meeting, in order to be sure of their invitation to the Grand opening on February 5rd, Our new membership cards are now on hand, so come on, gang, let's get going, o-0-0 WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The regular monthly meeting was held at the home of Mrs, Maitland, with Mrs, Turner as Chairman, Mrs, Goodfellow gave some very fine instructions on the art of Petit Point pictures as well as showing some examples of the completed work, The meeting closed with lunch being served by the Hostesses, Mesdames Hodgkiss and Wallwin, : 0-0-0 ST. MARTIN'S LADIES GUILD The St, Martin's Ladies Guild held its first monthly meeting ~ ' of 1950 on Wednesday, January 18th at the home of Mrs. J, 'lig.
