Approximately forty interested persons attended the meeting held under the Chairman- Gulp OF tie, HAS, Crate. Introduced by Herman Roberts, the Chairman spoke on Scouting and the necessity of © forming this Group Committee in compliance with the Dominion Scout Association rules of organization, Mr. Craig's remarks of his own experience as an Eagle Scout and of the introduction of Boy Scouts to Canada 41 years ago proved very interesting. Dr. Shaunessy as President of the local Legion Branch, assured the gathering of the pleasure it was for the Legion Club to be able to sponsor this organization locally and of the Legion support of youth movements in general. Of particular interest was a talk by Bruce Grant, District Scout Commissioner, who came from Fort William to address the meeting. Mr, Grant outlined the policy, principles, and aims of the Scout Association in Canada, covering all phases of organization of new Cub Packs and Scouts. He also spoke of the necessity of the Group Committee, its functions and responsibility as regards able Scout Leadership. ifr, Lundgren, Scoutmaster of the Schreiber Troop, extended his support and co-opera- tion in any future joint activity undertaken by the two Scout Troops, The following were elected to the Group Committee: Herman Roberts, Ralph Buck, Ed Cavanaugh, Dr, J. Shaunessy, and Wilf Ogden, Secretary. It is the intention to have the two local Church Boards appoint one representative each to the above Committee. These will be announced later. The protem committee responsible for getting the ball rolling wish to take this opportunity of thanking Mr. Bruce Grant and Mr. Lundgren for coming to Terrace Bay for this meeting and also lir, H, S. Craig, who acted as Chairman, 0-0-0 HOCKEY BANQUET PLANS Hockey at Terrace Bay will be officially ended on Thursday, May 1lgth, when the Terrace Bay Hockey Association will wind up its current year with a gala banquet at the Hotel Terrace, commencing at 6:30 p.m. All active members have been invited to the banquet as well as Team Coaches and a number of Honoured | ZuUcSUS. immediately following the banquet the President, WW. C. Borsum, will officially present the Northern '/Jood Preservers Trophy to the "Tigers", champions of the Terrace Bay League this season, Election of officers for the ensuing year will follow, after which the draw for the Tip Top Tailors Suit will be made. Persons who have not already obtained their tickets for the draw may do so by contacting any member of the Hockey Executive, fs an added treat, the Executive is pleased to announce that a Smoker will be held in the South Camp Recreation Hall, after the banquet, complete with a Boxing Card, Sing- Song, refreshments and added entertainment. The Hockey Executive are to be complimented on their fine efforts during the pact season, Not only were they successful in maintaining a 4-team House League under " Shift" conditions, for the first time, but Minor Hockey also saw its inauguration at Terrace Bay this year with the formation of two "kids" teams.
