"Residents of small communities threatened by the rolling banks of flames, stood ready with meee goods packed, to flee for safety". And all this occurred in our Northland a few hundred miles east of Terrace Bay. According to the Dominion Bureau of Statistics 5,017 forest fires demolished 613,000 acres in Canada last year, and at the present rate, the loss will be even greater this year, Since so many forest fires are caused by carelessness, we would once again urge every= one to take every precaution to prevent fires in our forests. -IT COULD HAPPEN HERE y !
