The trophy, donated by the Imperial Bank of Canada to the Terrace Bay Curling Club, is for annual bonspeil competition. Ice conditions, caused by recent mild weather, had forced postponement of the last half of the bonspeil for a week, but by last Friday evening the ice had tightened up and play re sumed, On Sunday afternoon in the fours, Ruth Bangartt's rink wes eliminated in a close game by Al Lawson's rink (which incidentally was skipped by Rune Ostling due to Al's re- turn to Sault Ste Marie). In the 12-end evening game for the trophy, it looked like a walk-away for the Lawson rink by the end of the 4th, when the score stood 7-2 in their favour. McColl picked up singles in the Sth, 6th, 7th and 8th, to make it 7-6, only to drop two in the 9th to trail 9-6, Faced with defeat, the three-man McColl crew curled like champions as they picked up two in the 10th and one in the llth to make it a tie going home. In the 12th, a single counter gave Al's rink the jewellry. For the Lawson rink, skipped by Rune Ostling, it was a tough one to lose. The rink also included Kathy Tracey, third; Al Crockford, second; and Irene Ostling, lead (substitut- ing for Mrs. Cy Camplong). On Al McColl's rink, Bill Lowe was third, while Paul Boudreau threw lead and second rocks, due to the absence of Shiela Lowe (who was forced to retire from play mid-way through the bonspeil) and Ab Keehn. 0° O16 CURLING CLUB BANQUET APRIL 15TH Tt has just been announced by the executive of the Terrace Fay Curling Club that the First Annual Banquet of the club will be held in the Recreation Hall on Thursday April 15th.
