It was an opportunity for the men of the Fire Department to put into action the fire-fighting methods learned during their practice drills. Fred Jones is justly proud of his men for the systematic way in which this emergency was handled, No sooner had the alarm been sounded than the Chief and his men were on their way and in what seemed no time at all they had a hose directing water on the flames. Genuine team- work was displayed which turned what might have been a serious threat to our town into a successful demonstration of fighting this demon known as "fire", ' During the dry season, from April lst until October 15th, FIRE is our worst enemy, Not only is it the cause of the devastation of Canada's timberland, but it is the cause of the destruction of homes and, subsequently, of man himself, Do not look at the seriousness of forest fires in too light a frame of mind.
