Principal's Message
World Seen As Beautiful Book
The following message to the students of Terrace Bay High School from principal W. W. Rowsome was contained in the school's year book of 1966-67.
By W. W. Rowsome
It was Carlo Goldoni who said: "The world is a beautiful book, but of little use to him who cannot read it."
The above, in precise and simple words, expresses a thought that I would like to leave with you.
Is the world a beautiful book? Surely God, in all His mercy, has not created any man who cannot perceive beauty; beauty in nature, beauty in thought, beauty in love.
Too often we overlook beauty to dwell on the common, overlook thought to dwell on action, and overlook love to dwell on hate.
The world is a beautiful book and I feel that a prime responsibility of the school is to encourage the reading of it; it is the students' responsibility to learn the love of reading it.
In your relationships with others, in your schools, in your future vocations, live lovingly, perceive accurately, read well and your world will be the beautiful book seen by Goldoni.
