Page 9, News, Tuesday, May 26, 1992 Living in north no adjustment for new Schreiber constable by Darren MacDonald The News For the OPP's newest con- stable, moving from Missis- sauga, a community of around 600,000 people, to the North Shore hasn't been much of an adjustment. "IT own a house, I have a front and a back yard, both for the first time," says Const. Murray Woodman, who trans- ferred to the Schreiber detach- ment at the start of this month. "And I don't have to worry about my child. What's there to adjust to?" Finding a good environment for Woodman and his wife, IN MEMORIAM SECHESKY, FRANK EDWARD - In loving memory of a dear husband, father, and grandfather who passed away on May 24, 1990. You are gone but not forgotten In our hearts you always will remain Until we meet again in glory On that bright and happy day. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by wife Lillian and family. . INMEMORIAM In loving memory to our father and grandfather, who was taken from us one year ago May 26, 1991. Always a thought and many a tear For the one we miss and loved so dear The sudden way you had to die We shall always remember and wonder why To know we never said good-bye Will always bring regret But the hearts that loved you dearly Are the ones that don't forget. So many things have happened, Dad Since you were taken away So many things to share with you Had you been left to stay We can not bring the old days back But the memories you left behind Will linger forever, as we treasure the image of you in our minds. To us you were special What more is there to say Except to wish with all our hearts That you were here today Forever loved and missed Jim & Yvonne McGrath and family Support NATIONAL ACCESS AWARENESS WEEK SOCIETY OF CANADA Ann, to raise their young fami- ly is one of the biggest reasons they came north, he says. "I enjoyed working where I was (at the Port Credit Detach- ment near Mississauga), and you couldn't ask for better co- workers," says Woodman. "But I wasn't really attached to the community--I mean, how do you get attached to a commu- nity of 600,000 people?" This isn't his first time in northwestern Ontario. Wood- man says he used to visit his brother, also an OPP constable, when his brother worked in Kenora. While in Mississauga, Woodman says he dealt mostly with traffic violations and some impaired drivers. In Schreiber, he's hoping to get involved in some of the lighter aspects of policing. "For example, I'm looking forward to going to the schools and speaking to the students," he says. Originally from Kitchener, Woodman has been with the OPP for 4 1/2 years, all at the Port Credit detachment. "T like it here in Schreiber so far--it seems like a good, hard-working community," he says. "It's a proud community, that's for sure." Dad We've thought of you often All through this year We turn to you to talk And then there's a tear. We always knew you were a dear special man You were always so close to our heart Maybe that is why we turn to you to talk And forget that now we're apart. You were always so loving, caring and wise And always an ear you would lend And that's how we know you will always be there So our hugs and our kisses we send.
