He had _ suffered from Alzheimer Disease. Gregg was the only child of John and Myrtle Murray of Cambridge. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pauline, whom he wed in 1935. They had three chil- dren: Jon, at home, Richard of Barrie; and Jean Connor and her husband, Ted Hawkins, of Terrace Bay. Gregg enjoyed read- ing, travelling, swimming, | watching baseball, and going on long walks with his dog. According to his wishes, Gregg's body was donated to medical science and there were no services. IBC wants province to adopt graduated licensing The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has launched a public awareness campaign advocating graduated licensing for new drivers in Ontario. IBC Chairman Murray Wal- lace says that insurance com- panies have been calling on governments to institute gradu- ated licensing since 1983, in order to_lower collision risks for new drivers. "In New Zealand, for exam- ple, graduated licensing has reduced the number of deaths and injuries to new drivers by at least 25 per cent," says Wal- lace. "And yet in this province, we continue to read about tragedies involving new drivers." Graduated licensing is a step-by-step learning process that new drivers go through before acquiring full driving privileges. New drivers would spend a defined length of time at each stage and would abide by a set of conditions in order to "graduate" to the next stage. Some of the conditions that have demonstrated consider- able potential to prevent acci- dents include: supervision of the new driver by a fully licensed adult driver; a curfew on night driving; and a require- ment for zero blood alcohol content. Young and novice drivers have been a particular concern for several years.
