In all, the MNR will pump 300,000 lake trout into the North Shore from Heron Bay to Rossport. The stocking program has arrested the decline in the trout population in the lake, a decline largely attributed to lamprey, a trout predator. "People along the North Shore know what lamprey are," says MNR Conservation Officer Mike Kenny. "They hate them." Kenny says the lamprey population has been signifi- cantly reduced by the MNR in a separate program.
