'Page 3, 'News,'Tuesday, April 30,1991 Community search found two lost Schreiber girls Two Schreiber girls, aged 12 and 14, were found early Sunday morning, April 21, after an extensive search by members of the community and the Schreiber Detachment of the O.P.P Rhonda Larivee and Ashley Halonen had gone to Schreiber Beach Saturday afternoon for a picnic. They were reported missing to the O.P.P. at 7:45 p.m. when they hadn't returned home for supper, said O.P.P. Constable Darren Rolland. The fathers of the two children began the search at the Beach. Other members of the community soon joined in. brought in from Thunder Bay to took part in the search and arrangements were made to have a helicopter ready for the next morning in case the children were not found, said Rolland. "At approximately 1:50 a.m. we were advised that the two children had been located at Twin Harbours, approximately four kilometers west of Schreiber on Lake Superior," said Constable Rolland. Members of the Schreiber Volunteer Fire Department took pat in the search and provided flashlights and radios for some of the searchers. "The volunteer searchers did O.P.P. Constable Kajmowicz an excellent job," said and his dog Kanuk were Constable Rolland. Chimo Club holds its Annual Activities Banquet in Schreiber Those who attended the Annual Chimo Club. Activities Banquet on Saturday, April 26 at the Schreiber Legion Hall enjoyed a roast beef dinner served by the Ladies Auxilliary of the ROyal Canadian Legion and a night of games and awards. The Blesisng was asked by Pat Guina and the TOast to the Queen given by Borden Ross. Chimo Club President Alma Hart welocmed everyone and invited them back to the Chimo CLub Room after dinner for cards and shuffleboard.Irene Morin, Ken Davis, Yvonne Mallais, -.Mel Webb and Marg Gerow found winning tickets, placed at random, under their seats. Alice Sparks presented the prizes for the season's Bridge. Ladies' High Average went to M. Ihnatko with B.Welbourne holding second. The Gentlemens' High Average went to Pat Guina with Alex Furyx in seond. Helen Wallace held the Ladies' High Single score and Mike Chepelsky the High Mens' SIngle. Yola Cebrario and Martin Ryan were given prizes in recognition of their regular attendance. Jack Handel presented the Shuffleboard prizes. In the first tournament, Margaret Handel and Margaret Tiboni were first, Jack Handel and Margaret Nesbitt, second. Margaret Handel and Pat Guina tied for the biggest end score. In the second tournament Jack Handel and Margaret Nesbitt were first and Eva Gordon and Mel Webb , second. The biggest score went to Margaret Nesbitt and Pat Guina had the most wins for a spare. The scene then shifted to the Chimo Club room for bridge, rummy, snooker, shuffleboard and a light lunch. Shuffleboard winner were Betrh Macadam and Jean Huard, second, Mel Webb and Alma Hart. The Schreiber Block Parent Program is now in place. The town has been divided into 5 areas, each with an area captain, and signs indicating a Block Parent home are up and visible.
