Sergeant Ben Jenkins of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Drug Awareness Program and Norman Panzica, consultant and lecturer with the Council on Drug Abuse, spoke to a crowd of 102 citizens on what they really need to know about drug abuse. The message of both speakers was clear - If you are concerned about drug abuse in your community you have to become involved. Those cleaning up walked along roadsides, dug around in the bushes and along fences in search of the clusive litter. The refreshments' were provided by the Township and the 'dogs' cooked with tendcr care (well most of them) by _ members of town council. Pop cans recycled Nearly 150 garbage bags, donated by Pitch -In Ontario and The Township of Terrace Bay, were handed out in Terracc Bay. Pop cans were separated from the other litter to be taken to Lakchead Scrap Metal in Thunder Bay by a member of E.A.G.E.R. If the moncy received for the cans covers the cost of transporting them to Thunder Bay, E.A.G.E.R might consider doing it on a regular basis, said Brenda Cottrell.
