"TI told him about my family, Terrace Bay and things like ringette tournaments," Allyson said about her letters. She said she sent her first letter out because she thought it would be nice to write and tell them how much we appreciate what they're doing. She also wanted to discover what the whole experience would be like and to see if she would actually get an answer. "He enjoys getting my letters," she said, "In his first letter he said it [her letter] put a smile on his face." "I like getting the letters too," she added. Middleton told her about some of his duties on the ship but he didn't talk much about the war. ° "I guess it's [his letters] probably screened," she said. Allyson also thought that he maybe didn't want to talk about it. "It must have been pretty depressing," she explained. In his letters, Middleton talked about Christmas on the ship, the decorations and the traditional turkey dinner.. f "He said it was strange having Christmas in a Moslem country," she said. Middleton has been with the forces in the Gulf since the ships left last August. District offices will provide financial and administrative service for the MNR field organization as well as resource management planning and decision-making. Area offices will focus on program delivery, customer service and public involvement. They will also manage local issues.
