Page 13, News, Tuesday, March 12, 1991 1991 Peel Off Winter Carnival a great success Schreiber celebrated another successful Peel Off Winter Carnival with a fireworks display that could be seen and heard throughout the town. There were many events dur- ing the 10 day carnival -including a show by the Schreiber Figure Skating Club, a variety show and the Meltdown Dance. People were well fed by those groups who organized various noon hour meals throughout the week . The community selected Bob Spadoni as Carnival King and Yola Cebrario as Carnival Queen. The Princess presiding over the celebration was Jessica Richardson and the chosen Prince was Teddy Thomson. Spud the Couch Potato man- aged to be every where all the time. His real identity (Bill Campbell) was guessed correctly by Rhonda Bolan. Red Fairservice grew the longest beard while Dan Boon grew the bushiest. Bill Needham kept the best trimmed beard and Ron Larivee made the best attempt at- growing one. Despite snow conditions that were less than ideal some terrific snow sculptures were made. In the group category first prize went to the Ontario Provincial Police, second to Teen Talk and third to the Schreiber Public Library. Shane Riley took first prize in the individual category, Janet Moorey second and Donald Borutski third. Honorable mention went to Mel Andrews and Bill Campbell Sr. Drew Winters was the top downhill racer (Grade 4 & under) in the G-T Run, Don Bedard, second and Michael Winters, third. Jason Imbeault was first in Grade & up division, Adam Hamilton second and Christian Campbell third. continued on page 15 McCAUSLAND, M.D. - Dr. Donald Joseph Michael McCausland, of Terrace Bay, passed away at the McCausland Hospital on Tuesday, March 5, 1991 after a lengthy illness. Born in Toronto on August 20, 1911. Predeceased by his wife Lois and sister Molly Kinney. Survived by his daughters Judy (Mrs. John Griffiths) of (Mrs. Harold Hansen) of Niagara Falls, Molly (Mrs. Ingo Schmiedchen) of Barrie, and Pat (Mrs. Jack Hasen) of Toronto; also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild.
