In amongst this story of a fam- ily being tor apart, is also one of faith in things you can't see. Jessica has found a wounded reindeer in the field behind her home and she is convinced it is Santa's deer, Prancer. Even though her friends and brother try to tell her different, Jessica won't give up her belief in Santa Claus. ¢ As she says: If there's no Santa because you can't really see him, then there's no God because you can't see him, and if there's no God then there's no heaven. So where does that leave her Mother? ) Jessica has plan though. She will take Prancer to Antler Hill on December 23rd at midnight. She has written a letter to Santa ask- ing him to meet her there. This letter eventually falls into ' the hands of a newsman and from there, the whole town learns of her belief. In the excitement that follows, her father learns about the rein- deer in the barn, and sells him to and have an and safe snowmobiling season STICK TO THE TRAIL the man who sells Christmas trees to use as a display. Jessica feels " betrayed by her father and vows to free Prancer. At the tree lot, Jessica realizes that maybe everyone was right. After all, if Prancer was magical, why couldn't he fly? Jessica becomes depressed as her faith in Santa weakens. Ironically, now everyone else sees that the joy of Christmas comes from believing in the spirit of love and kindness (things you can't see.) ; Even her father has realized these truths and now he is deter- mined that she keep her ren- dezvous with Santa. This movie stirs up memories of Christmases past, when we all believed. A famous story tells us "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa ~ Claus. He lives in the minds and hearts of all of us." Prancer is a movie that reinforces that truth. If you feel love and happiness in your heart for your family and others, then the spirit of Christmas and Santa Claus does truly exist.
