Page 7, News, Tuesday, May 15, 1990 Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital Annual reports and election of officers were the order of busi- ness at the April 30th meeting of the McCausland Hospital Auxiliary chaired by Margaret Gander. Minutes of the past year and the financial statements proved another active year for the Auxiliary. Individual Committees reported details of all covering activities. A request form the Ambulance Department to co-finance funding for new CPR equipment was approved pending Administrative approval. Three babies had been born in the past month in_ the McCausland Hospital, each receiving a gift of bootees made by Norma Crockford. Rosemary Fraser was thanked for the birth congratulations cards she had made to accompany the bootees. The Board Representative, Sheila Cassie, announced the official opening of the Ambulance on May 12th when there would be an open house. Vicky Bougie gave details of the findings of the Planning Board meeting she had attended and their proposals for the town and area. Vicky also reported on the spring conference held in Thunder Bay. Elise Kenny was thanked for the Easter bunny tray favors she had made for hospital patients. PUBLIC NOTICE OF AERIAL INSPECTION SPRAYING NIPIGON DISTRICT As part of the Ministry of Natural Resources ongoing program to regenerate and protect our forest, select- ed stands in this area will be sprayed with a biologi- cal insecticide to control spruce budworm, starting On or about June 2, 1990. Further details about the program including specific locations, are available from the Nipigon or Thunder Bay District office of the Ministry of Natural Resources. A total of over 7000 volunteer hours had been given by mem- bers to Auxiliary projects in the past year and these ladies were also thanked by Marg. Nominating Committee pre- sented the following list for the 1990-91 executive. Duly elected were: President (for the first 6 month period) Elaine Mannisto; (second 6 month period) Margaret Gander; Ist Vice President Brenda Cottrell; 2nd Vice President Elise Kenny; Corresponding Secretary Heather DeCal; Recording Secretary Brenda Cottrell; Treasurer Rosemary Fraser. Margaret Gander installed the new execu- tive and received her Past President's pin from the incoming President. Elaine thanked Marg for her past two years of hard work with the Auxiliary. A motion was passed to have Terrace North Shore Director's Fun Run- We're challenging the resi- dents of Terrace Bay to come out and participate in our North Shore Director's Annual Fun Run on Tuesday, May 22nd from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in various categories. Come on Terrace Bay and help us challenge the North Shore com- munities. Let's have the largest number of participants for this year's Fun Run. Minor Ball/Soccer Programs- These programs -are Lifeline as a separate committee within the Auxiliary. There well be a review on the change to the Constitution. Marg Gander, Vicky Bougie, Elise Kenny and Sheila Cassie will form the Review Committee. Marg Gander and Gertrude Cotton will remain on the Lifeline Committee with Rosemary Fraser as Treasurer. Members admired the lovely Mother's Day tray favors made by Vicky Bougie. the raffle for the afghan and pillow will be drawn on May 12th. A presentation on Lifeline was given following the meeting by Elaine Mannisto, Gertrude Cotton and Lori McMasters. Lori gave a live demonstration of the Monitor in the nursing station at the Hospital. There are now twenty- four units in clients' homes, one kept as stand by in the Hospital, five more on order and a waiting list of two. It was decided the next meet- ing would commence at 8:00 p.m. and due to the holiday weekend, changed to May 28th. The mixed championships were held in Manitouwadge on May 4th and Sth. The winning team was com- prised of: Debbie and Wayne Papineau, Tom and Shelly Long, Charlie Matson, and Lea Falzetta. Debbie Papineau had the over- all high triple for the Northshore with 969. Terrace Bay beat out Nipigon, ed Rock and Manitouwadge to win the 1989-90 mixed penant. This program is open to children 5 - 13 years of age, and will start the end of May. The Recreation Committee has added another award this year. the family with the greatest num- ber number of participants will have their name engraved on a new plaque.
