Wednesday, October 18, 1989 TERRACE BAY/SCHREIBER NEWS Page 7 Ladies Auxiliary looking to improve patient care Marg Gandcr, president, wel- comed many new members to the September meeting of the McCausland Hospital Auxiliary, saying with new ideas and sup- port, much could be accom- plished again this season in con- tributing to patient care. Business included secretarial and financial reports. Convenor Norma Crockford reported four- teen babiés born between the June and September meetings, each receiving a pair of booties. Norma could use any left-over baby wool for this project. Thank you notes were read. Elaine Mannisto will chair the Fall Executive Conference of Hospital Auxiliary Association in Thunder Bay on October 23. President Marg will also attend and Heather DeCal. Members will bake muffins to send with Elaine and Marg. With the departure of several key workers the Gift Shop is in dire necd of volunteers. Brenda Cottrell and Elise Kenny will fill vacancies on the Gift Shop. Purchasing Committee. Lifeline has arrived and presently stored in the ambulance garage. A cabinet is being built to house the monitor at the nursing station. The Ambulance Manager and assistant will coordinate the project. Marg thanked everyone who had contributed crafts and muffins to the Fall Fair, giving a very favorable report. Organizers for the Auxiliary ' membership drive this fall will be Anne Miller in Schreiber, Pauline Kidder in Terrace Bay and Maureen Tychoniak in Rossport. Pat Callaghan will convene the afghan raffle. Estelle Wallwin was thanked for making tray favors for Labor Day. A farewell gift was presented by Vicky Boucher to Estelle in appreciation for all her work for the auxiliary. Schreiber rec news Mixed Volleyball Mixed Volleyball has begun at the Schreiber High School. Drop by any Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and join in on the fun. This is a non-competitive game and is open to anyone. For more infor- mation contact the recreation office at 824-2317. Badminton Beginning Monday, October 16 between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. you can drop into the Schreiber High School for a game of badminton. This is recre- ational badminton and is open to anyone interested. Games will be played every Monday evening. Gymnastics The recreation department is still accepting names for those interested in gymnastics. We hope to eventually form our own club and in order to accomplish this we must have volunteers in order to organize the club. The program will be run out of the Terrace Bay High School each Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you are inter- ested in registering for the pro- gram or volunteering your time please contact the recreation office at 824-2317. Future Programs The Recreation Department would like to offer the following courses if enough interest is shown. If you are interested in any of the following programs or require more information please contact the recreation office: Weight Training Techniques and Principles, Learn to Skate - morn- ing and afternoon sessions, First Aid, C.P.R., Children's Dance - Jazz and Ballet, Adult Ballroom Dancing. Schreiber Art Club Just a reminder for all you painters that the Schreiber Art Club mects every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Art Room of the recreation complex. Craft 'N Stuff Sale The Schreiber Parks and Recreation Department will be holding its 1st Annual Craft 'N Stuff Sale Sunday, November 26, 1989 at the Schreiber Recreation Complex. The sale will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. and is open to local crafimakers and coltage industries. If you are interested in renting space, please contact the Recreation Office at 824-2317. Available in Thunder Bay Malls Proceeds for The Handicapped Members were requested to consider Christmas themes for the Hospital and also tray favors, bringing their ideas to the next meeting. The president asked also cookies December 9. This will replace the usual Christmas Bazaar. The October meeting will be on the 16 at 7:00 p.m. Ladies: of the area are cordially invited to join in the workings of. the Hospital Auxiliary. It is extremely rewarding. Details of the Annual Convention of Hospital Association in Toronto, October 29 to November 2 were outlined. The Board will send one repre- sentative from the auxiliary. Sheila Cassie will be the repre- sentative this year. There is to be a Craft Sale by local ladies in the Recreation Centre November 19 and the Auxiliary agreed to have a Bake Table during their sale.
