Page 6 TERRACE BAY/SCHREIBER NEWS Wednesday, August 2,1989 Terrace Bay recreation news Programs Swimming The Fun Week held at the Pool from July 24 to July 27 was very successful. some of the events included a Sponge soak-Up, Pool Pirates, Super Float & T-Shirt Swim. The August session of swim lessons will run from Monday, July 31 to Friday, August 18. Aquabics ended on August 2. This program was very successful with 25 ladies participating in the pool-program. Swim schedules for August are available at the pool or Recreation Office. Schreiber Summer Playground Another exciting weck has gone by with the children partici- pating in a number of fun-filled events such as the Police Station Tour, Jello Eating contest and an Arts and Crafts Day. Some of the fast. approaching special events are the Library Tour, Movie Day and the ever popular Rainbow Falls Camping Trip. The camping trip is scheduled for August 8, 9, and 10. Consent forms are avail- able from the leaders at the public school. The Summer Playground is operational Monday to friday dur- ing the following hours: Munchkins - 3 to 6 years from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Munsters - 7 to 12 years from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. For more information on the playground or any of the special events contact Cathy Birch at 824-2203. Summer Playground Rock people, paper mache, baseball and walks in the park, are just some of the exciting events and activities which hap- pened during the week of July 24 to 28, in our Summer Playground Program. The following schedule high- Sailing & Board Sailing The Schreiber and Terrace Bay Recreation. Departments recently co-sponsored a 3-hour Board Sailing course for adults and a 2- day Learn to Sail Program for children 7 to 13 years of age. Both programs were held with the assistance of the Ontario Sailing Association. Eleven people took part in this very informative course. The children's Sailing Program was part of the Ontario Sailing Association's BOOM Program. It - is a no cost introductory sailing and racing program that travels around the province promoting the sport to children. Twenty chil- dren participated in this two day instructional program that culmi- nated in a mini regatta. Evan Grim of Terrace Bay and Rhonda Larivee of Schreiber will compete in a regional beginners regatta in Red Rock on August 3rd. The winners of this regional regatta will compete in a provincial championship weekend regatta at the end of the summer. Best of luck to our two local participants. Aug. 9 - Library Puppet Show Remember parents, take the lime to bring your children to our Summer Playground Program, which is held in the Arena. The Playground staff will guarantee your child will have a great day. Swimming Lessons Just a reminder that the second session of swim lessons has begun. Our swim instructors are asking the cooperation of all per- sons using White Sand Beach. While swim lessons are in progress (to approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday to Friday) would persons utilizing the beach please Stay outside the buoy lines. This will ensure the safety of all par- ticipants in the Schreiber Swim Program.
