Fred Broenclle arrived Wednesday with his tug, the Annis Lee, and took his oil tank to the Lakehead for repairs. It had been damaged in 8 to 12 foot waves and driven on rocky shoals enroute to being towed to Hamilton last September and was given permission to keep it in the harbour till spring. The smelt run was excellent this year, but of course it is a:mid- Death Notice BOLAN: Mrs. Uenice Bolan age 89 years of Orillia and formerly of Schreiber passed away in hospital Sunday, May 28, 1989. Survived by daughters Ellen (Mrs. R. Campbell) of Washigo and Ruth (Mrs. R Mayer) of Victoria B.C. Also sur- vived by 11 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. Predeceased by her Husband Thomas, son Pat and sister Emilia. Funeral mass was held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Angel Roman Catholic Church Schreiber. Interment Schreiber Cemetery. They are as follows: Chairman, Prina Gerow, Vice- President, Freda Gcrow, Secretary, Laura Legault, and Treasurer Pat Beno. Following the closing prayers and blessing by Father Van Radamarker, lunchcon was served by Mrs. F. Gerow. It was announced that Gilbert and Jim Gerow would care for the church and cemetery grounds this ycar. Many boaters arrived for the event but the weather man hand- ed out a wet, cold and foggy weekend. Pickerel are a popular and tasty fish whether deep fried, stuffed with bread dressing and baked or boiled on a steam pipe as a chowder. Ron Sage, Chief Geologist of Ontario Northern Development and Mines, visited the Kenneys enroute to the Soo. He worked in this area several years ago. Ducks, geese and heron are plentiful in our bay, harbour and lawns. Ray Kenney believes that some of them are ones that he used to feed last year as they appeared to be quite familiar with coming ashore for a handout. A Bald Eagle has been sighted on the Quarry Island. Some Rossportites are hoping that it - will remain in our harbour.
