Initial training for this four year apprenticeship will take place at our Thunder Bay work centre. You will complete your final two years of the program upon relocation of the work centre to Marathon in 1991. Minimum requirements are Grade 12 secondary school diploma with credits in mathematics, science and english. Your duties will include the felling and pruning of trees and the application of herbicides to control brush and unwanted vegetation. Hand and chain saws, pruning equipment and sprayers are the normal tools of the trade. Climbing will be involved, however, some clearing may be done from a hydraulically operated aerial device. You will be required to qualify for a Class "A" driver's licence, and must be able to obtain a Land Class 01 and 03 exterminator licence. Since the work is performed outdoors, you will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures and to dust and pollens.
