The teams will be set-up and players will be contacted by their coaches regarding schedules. Ball Hockey This program still has room for more participants. Call the recreation office if you are inter- ested in joining. Must be 16 years of age and over. Fun Run The North Shore Director's Fun Run is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23. We expect Terrace Bay to accept the chal- lenge from the North Shore com- munities - by coming out in FULL FORCE. Let's show them our great community spirit. The FUN RUN is on from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All participants are asked to reg- ister at the recreation center, prior to walking, running, crawling, cycling, jogging the route. There will be awards for the Largest Family, Youngest Participant, Oldest Participant, Largest Organization, Largest School Participants. So come out and challenge the North Shore. Get the sneakers out of moth balls, oil the joints, get the family ready and head to the high school for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23rd. Last year Schreiber was dethroned as the town with the highest percentage of participants out for the North Shore Directors Fun Run/Walk. This year we will be back stronger than ever! Talk it up around town, at the grocery stores, at the post office, in the local department stores, hardware stores, wherever you are - mention it to everyone you see. We must let everyone know if we are to regain our crown. Longlac - you are in for a real battle. For anyone who doesn't know what the Fun Run/Walk is - it is an annual challenge amongst all towns on the North Shore to see who can get the largest number or greatest percentage of it's citizens out to participate. We will run the ball program until the end of school and then switch to soc- cer. It is too difficult to run minor ball with everyone taking holi- days and such after school is over. If you register for minor ball you will automatically be registered for the soccer program. Registrants for the programs will be contacted on either Tuesday, May 30 or Wednesday, May 31 as to their teams, coaches and prac-: tice times. We are still in need of coaches, umpires and voluntecrs for both the ball and soccer programs. If ~ you are interested please contact the recreation office as soon as possible at 824-2317. Summer Employment Anyone wishing to work for the recreation department during the summer should have their applications into the recreation office by 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 19. We have openings for Playground Leaders, Schreiber Green (maintenance workers), swim staff, minor sports con- venor and ball park concession staff. All Night Ball Tournament Plans are in the works for an all night mixed baseball tourna- ment and fun night sponsored by the recreation department which will be held Saturday, June 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Some tentative activities for the 1st Annual Pajama Party include a dunk tank, corn roast, tug-o-war, home run derby and base run. There's a 12 team limit so register carly at the recreation office. Deadline for registrations is May 31. Mixed Slowpitch Let's play ball! Out for your nightly walk - stop by the ball field and catch the action. Mixed slowpitch will commence it's 1989 scason Wednesday, May 17 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sixteen teams are participating once again this year to provide all the excitement. Games are held each® Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
