Decorations are going up and already there has been several par- ties in the Rec room here and not doubt there will be more. The Ladies Auxiliary of Birchwood were here on Thursday afternoon. After a short business meeting the ladies had their Christmas tea for the residents and each one of the residents received a X-mas gift from the auxiliary. On behalf of all here at the home I would like to thank these devoted ladies for all the work they do all year for us. We hope to have them for many years to dome -- God bless them all. I notice there are still some folks who let their dogs run around loose. I saw two large golden retrievers on Simcoe Plaza, this is not only bad for folks walking around but with the traffic your dogs could be killed. There were also two other large dogs running around the hospital parking lot. Come on folks, please obey the by- law. While I was walking in town last week I saw a sad disgusting sight -- a bag of garbage broken open and spread over the ground between the post office and the drug store. The Thunder Bay District Health Council recently held its Annual Meeting on September 22, 1988. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Council to present awards to the McCausland Hospital (Terrace Bay) and Manitouwadge General Hospital for developing new health promotion initiatives in 1987/88 for the benefit of their parents and staff. The Council also elected its new executive officers for 1988/89. The new chairperson of the Thunder Bay District Health Council is Glennis Forsberg, who is a municipal] representative from the Township of Shuniah in Thunder Bay's north end. Mrs. Forsberg replaces Mr. Geoffrey Weller who has served as the Council's Chairman for the past 2 years. Mrs. Forsberg is commencing her sixth year on Council. She served as a chairperson of the Acute Care Committee in 1987-88 and co-ordinated the very successful Action Centre Conference in Thunder Bay in 1987. Mrs. Forsberg is a graduate in nursing from Lakehead University (1969) where she also obtained her Masters of Education degree (1982).
