Page 6, News, Wednesday, May 11 1988 Terrace Bay recreation centre news Minor Ball Registration The ball season is upon us and registration forms have been dis- tributed through the schools and are also available at the Recreation Office. Minor ball is open to both boys and girls ages 5 to 18 years. Different groups involved this year are: T-Ball - 5 to 7 years old, Juniors - 8 to 10 years old, Intermediates - 11 to 12 years old, Seniors - 13 to 15 years old and Teen Ball - 16 to 18 years old. All groups are open to both males and females. The season commences on May 24, so please register before May 13. In order to operate the above leagues, we need the support of coaches and umpire vol- unteers. Let's hear from you. Men's Slow Pitch League Are you a new resident to Terrace Bay and wish to become involved in the Men's Slow Pitch League? Registration can be made or more information received by contacting the Recreation Office at 825-3542. Use of Ballfields We wish to inform all ball enthusiasts that any use of the ball- fields must be made by first con- tacting the Recreation Office. Leagues are requested to contact the Recreation Office to schedule practice or make up games. "Radio -Controlled" Car Club Looking For Some Adventure? Here it is! The Recreation Department in Terrace Bay is now taking names of individuals inter- ested in starting a Radio-Controlled Car Club. This club would be involved in racing, repair and maintenance, and the demonstra- tion of radio-controlled cars. If you or your friends are interested in this new exciting pastime, contact the Recreation Office or call Mark Mannisto at 825-3613. 'Fun Run 1988" Update The date of Tuesday, May 24 is fast approaching and we need your assistance in making Terrace Bay the winner in the North Shore Recreation Directors Participation Challenge Fun Run. Come join us and walk, bike, hop, skip or run the 1-mile designated route between the hours of 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Registration must be made in front of the Recreation Complex before you start your walk. Sneaker Day is another exciting event scheduled to initiate Canada's Fit-week. This year "Sneaker Day" is being held on Friday May 20 and isa celebration of physical activity in which all Canadians are invited to participate by wearing their sneakers or running shces (safety permitting) all day, wherever they are. Sneaker Day will be celebrated across Canada in places of work (permission granted), schools, in restaurants, shopping centres, hotels, travelling or at home. Remember the Dates!
