Page 8, News, Wednesday, May 4, 1988 Terrace Bav bowlers fare well against strong competition Upset win highlight of tournament By Shelly Long On Saturday April 23, the Terrace Bay Bowling Association hosted the 3rd Annual Northshore Playdowns. Fifteen teams took part in this day-long event. There were teams from Nipigon, Red Rock, Marathon, Manitouwadge and our own center. You can well imagine the thrill of winning in your category, or placing in the top three teams. Terrace Bay did just that in this year's playdowns. Our mixed teams placed second and third. The team members were: Linda Falzetta, Ron Falzetta, Sylvia Sutherland, Harold Sutherland, Becky Vannatter and Stan Greenwood. Third-place team was com- prised of: Lea Falzetta, Dave Falzetta, Joe Dobush, Marlene Dobush, Dan Imbeault and Helen Caul (missing due to illness was Jackie Imbeault). Our men's team took second place in their division. To recap the first-place winners of the Northshore Playdowns : Mixed -- Marathon, Men's -- Red Rock, Ladies -- Terrace Bay. Now, there is a sort of Cinderel- la story in the singles category To make it into the "singles," the top three triples (three game totals) have to bowl-off against each other. The top three females were: Denise Maidment from Red Rock with 692, Debbie Papineau from Terrace Bay with a 708 and Linda Michano from Marathon with a 713. So our Terrace Bay bowler had made it into the singles tourney. ~ She had to first go up against Denise and, and she beat her with a 218. Now she had to bowl Linda Michano. 4 Ducks Unlimited Canada we're good at it. the beginning of our next fifty years. best...consery e wetlands. We've been doing it since 1938.
