Each year the competitive spirit between the Recreation Directors becomes more keen as they compete for the distinction of having the communi- ty with the most participants involved in the Fun Run. Each community will record the number of participants taking part. After 9:00 on May 24, the results are determined with the following awards being designated. Award #1 - Largest number of participants Award #2 Highest percentage of population participating. We urge all Terrace Bay resi- dents to come join us on Tuesday May 24 between the hours of 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and either walk, run, crawl, bike, or hop the designated one mile route. Let's prove to our worthy com- petitors in Schreiber that we are determined to win the Banner this year. Programs: , Aerobics St. Martin School There will be another session of evening Aerobics to be held at St. Martin School. Starting Date - May 2 to June 23 Times - Monday 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. Thursday 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. Non -impact Aerobics Another session of Non Impact Aerobics will be presented at St. Martin School. Starting Date: May 2 to June 23 Schreiber Acrobats of the Pagoda Time is running out to get your tickets for this exciting event. This colourful troupe from China will be appearing at the Schreiber Arena on Wednesday, May 4 at 8.00 pm. This is a world-famous group, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime oppor- tunity to view their performance. Tickets are available at the Schreiber and Terrace bay recre- ation offices, the Schreiber Community Credit Union and from any member of the Schreiber Recreation Committee. Summer Programs It is time to start thinking about summer programs. The Recreation Department is now finalizing the minor ball program. If this program is to run, we will need volunteers to act as coaches, umpires and offi- cials. If anyone is interested in any positions, please contact the recre- ation office at 824-2317. Remember, if these programs are to run successfully, we need your help! Swim Program The Recreation Department plans to offer swim lessons at White Sand beach this summer. Anderson rink claims mixed By Jane Santerre The Terrace Bay Curling Club hosted its annual Mixed Bonspiel a couple of weekends ago and saw Dan Anderson skip his rink to win top honours over a 21-rink field. the winning rink was comprised of Maureen McDonald (third), Randy Knox (second), and Cheryl Moore (lead). Second position in the "A" divi- sion went to Pat Spadoni of Schreiber along with Charmaine Lavallee (third), Bob Lavallee (sec- ond), and barb Spadoni (lead). The Lavallee pair are former Terrace Bay Club members now curling out of the Red Rock club. Third place in "A" went to-the Rick Hamilton rink and fourth spot was claimed by the Joe (Texaco) Figliomeni rink of Schreiber. The "B" Division winners were the rink of Dave Bajkiewicz with Pauli Bajkiewicz, Mike Kurylo and Larrilie Kurylo. The Rick Pakylak rink of Thunder Bay shot their way to sec- ond position; third spot was claimed by Diane O'Neil rink and fourth went to the Lloyd Dejonghe rink. Winners of the "C" Division were from the Glenn Fossum rink of Thunder Bay. Second place in the "C" Monday-- 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. Thursday-- 7:45 - 8:45 p.m. Taking Charge with Aerobics Louise is presenting another after- noon session ofAerobics at the recreation Centre Starting Date - April 25 to June 1 Times - Monday and Wednesdays 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Over 50 Hoppers: The next session of Over 50 Hoppers will take place in the Recreation Centre at the following times. Starting Date - May 9th to June 17th Times - Monday, Wednesday & Fridays 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Sewing Course for Beginners - With Elise Kenny. Do you want to learn how to use a- sewing machine, read a pattern, cut a pattern, put in a zipper and a sleeve or hem an article? Participants will learn some tips on different fabrics. They will make a sewing bag and hopefully make a simple two piece outfit for adult or child.
