Terrace Bay recreation centre ne Arena ice We wish to inform the commu- nity that the ice in the arena will no longer be available for use this sea- son after April 10. National Lifeguard Service Course The Port Hole in Marathon will be presenting a National Lifeguard Service course to be held on April 8,9,10 and April 22,23, and 24. Prerequisites for this program are as follows: 16 years of age, Bronze Cross Award or higher, First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care recommended. For registration forms, contact the Recreation Office at 3542. T.L.S.A. Workshops Training Institute in Sports Administration Workshops are designed to meet the needs of sport administrators, executive members and sport volunteers. Coaches and officials will also benefit from this workshop. Workshops will be held on the following dates: April 15, 16 at the Thunder Bay Airline Hotel April 29,30 at the Manitouwadge Community Centre For more information, call the Recreation Centre at 3542. Weight Training Clinic There-is room available for reg- istration in the Weight Training Clinic being held in Schreiber on ' April 23. Regretfully, the class in Terrace Bay is full. This course will include topics such as: weight training principles, anatomy, biomechanics, equipment safety and example workouts com- plete with demonstrations. This clinic is limited to 20 participants, so register at the recreation office early. Acrobats of the Pagoda This colourful. troupe from China will be appearing at the Schreiber Arena on May 4. this is a world-famous group, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view their performance. Someone who goes out of his or her way to make your community a Summer employment Students seeking employment with the recreation department for the summer should get their appli- cations into the office as soon as possible. Application forms can be obtained at the township and recre- ation offices. Summer Programs It is time to start thinking about our summer programs. The Recreation department is planning to run a minor ball program from May 15 to the end of June, and a drop-in soccer program would then operate in July and August. If these programs are going to operate, we will need coaches , umpires and referees. Anyone wishing to volun- teer for any of these positions should leave their name and phone number at the Recreation office. Swim program The recreation department is anticipating running 2 -- 3 week sessions at White Sand Beach again this year. The lessons would begin on Monday, July 4. The sec- ond session is expected to run from July 25 to August 12. First Aid Course The-recreation department is now accepting registration for an Emergency First Aid Course. 'When enough interest has beer shown in the course, final arrange- ments will be made. If you are interested in this course, please contact the recre- ation office. better place to live.
