The government has been striv- ing to more than double the num- ber of women in the Management Category from 217 in 1983 to 475 by March 31, 1988. As of March 8, the number of women in the Management Category was 509. "The government's goal is to ensure that women are full partici- pants in all areas of the Federal Public Service," said Mr. Mazankowski. "We have worked together with the Public Service Commission to achieve this mile- stone with respect to senior posi- tions in the Public Service. "By April, we will set new tar- 'gets for the next three years. These targets will cover the Management Category, non-traditional occupa- tions and other groups where women are under-represented. We are eager to continue the progress made to date," said Mazankowski. He also took this opportunity to note other initiatives of interest to women: ¢ THe mandate of the Women's Career Counselling and Referral Bureau at the PSC has been extended until March 31, 1993. This bureau has becn instrumental in identifying and referring women ~ for appointments into the manage- ment category. eTogether with the 13 Public Service unions, the government has launched one of the largest equal pay studies ever involving more than 4,400 employces. the results of this study, expected in late 1989, could positively affect the wages this government is pursuing to of 81,000 employees in predomi- nantly female occupational groups. make women full and equitable partners in the Public Service "These are a few of the steps _ workforce," said Mazankowski. : Notice RAWLEIGH PRODUCTS and dealerships available immediately by phoning (807) 345-6950 or by writing to: Mr. W.
