Page 12, News, Wednesday, February 3, 1988. Convention to be held May 3, 4 and 5 The C.W.L. of St. Martin of Tours held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, January 11. The rosary was recited in Thanksgiving for all our spiritual benefits in 1987; a scripture read- ing was read by Marg. Minutes of the November meeting were read by Marilyn, followed by the correspondence; a thank-you from Sister Ruth McLaren for the boxes of used clothing sent to her Missions. The NorthShore Family Resource Centre, Community Development Programme, has sent a letter informing us of kits available for fundraising. A letter was read from our family in India with Christmas greetings. The convenors' reports were then read: Marg Roberts read a poem, "I thank you Lord", and asked members to save the pic- tures from used religious Christmas Cards which will be sent to St. Jude's Ranch for Children in Boulder City, Nevada. ; The staff and children recycle these cards as a fundraising pro- ject. Dolores is busy updating the minutes of previous years. Sharyn gave her report on the Diocesan Executive meeting held Nov. 13. She stated the convention will be held May 3, 4 and 5, hosted by St. Dominic's Parish in Thunder Bay. A report on the study day held at St. Agnes' Parish in Thunder Bay Nov. 13 was read. The theme for our Annual Christmas Celebration this year held on Dec. 13 was the Advent Wreath. During the service the symbol was explained followed by a decade of the rosary and singing of Ave Maria. Following was a pot luck sup- per for approximately 60 people. Miss Bourgeouis and her school choir entertained after the dinner with some delightful car- ols. Sharyn stated the Annual Reports should be ready for the February meeting. This year the World Day of Prayer, March 4, will be held at the Pentecostal Church with Edna and Mary being our convenors. A Leader or Group to work for Development and Peace this being their 20th Anniversary; Lent 88. There will be a Workshop on Feb. 13. Father Campbell said Bishop O'Mara would like to see the Spirit of Renew kept alive by some other means. The meeting adjourned fol- lowed by a "Salute the Torch" and lunch.
