Page 6, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, December 9, 1987 Do you know any of these people? Recognize anyone? People enjoy strolling down memory lane; many have for- gotten that they are a part of their area's wealthy sports her- itage. There is so much history and information but unfortu- nately it is all locked up in these photos, just waiting to be brought to the surface. The Thunder Bay Sports Hall of Fame contacted the Terrace Bay-Schreiber News office and asked if we would help them identify players and area residents from the pho- tographs below. We willingly obliged. These pictures have been in the News office for about one month now and residents have been coming in and identify- ing the players. In fact, all of the women in the photo below have been identified except for one. All of the young men have been identified and all of the older men except for one first This is what the News has so far for this, the men's team; front, left to right, Sax Lumburg, Willard Vezina, Gus Mazzanti, Frank Woodruff, Bruce Larson and Stan ?; name and one last name. What we here at the News want to do is run these pictures that will be added to the files/research process. anyway so we can get as much help as possible. We will then correlate what we have with what we get through printing the pictures. If you believe you know who these people are, could you please come by the News office located in the middle of Simcoe Plaza in Terrace Bay and help us wrap up this mys- tery. The Thunder Bay Sports Hall of Fame is looking for a few specific things about these pictures. They are always looking to increase their files. They cur- rently receive the Terrace Bay-Schreiber News and save all the sports information for their files. Kate Dwyer from the Sports Hall of Fame said about being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, "Of course, we all cannot be inducted but that does not mean that our sports career has not added to the region. / "I am personally interested in anyone who has participat- ed in a sport in our region. "Fame and glory are great but there is more than one per- son who brings honour to our cities. I am therefore looking all the time for more informa- tion on any sport in our region. "I know from your area that the paper mill has been institu- tional in sponsoring may sports groups. "I am currently attempting to locate two hockey players from your area. "They are Ron and Daniel Schock. From what I have heard they were great players. They also had another brother who played. "Both Ron and Dan moved away to pursue professional careers in hockey but possibly there is still some family around who would know where to locate them. These players are in some of the pho- tos we have, but I just cannot identify them. "Our museum is always looking for artifacts, trophies, scrapbooks and other memora- bilia. : "Individuals loan or donate artifacts to us. We also have the facilities to reproduce pho- tos or any written material so that the originals can be returned to the owner."
