Bits and Bites By Helene Ballard Time again for another wee bit of 'fluff. I hope you all had a nice Hallowe'en. We had a nice party at Birchwood. in the afternoon and we also had a nice surprise. We enjoyed the music of the Manitouwadge Jazz Ensemble. There were five gentlemen and one lady, namely, Gordon MacKenzie on Trombone, Bill Blake on piano, Will Gorissen on guitar, Patti Collins on trumpet, Brian Kelly on drums and Dave Nuttall on trumpet. z The music was very good and sure put some life into the home. It would be nice to have them for a Christmas dance. On behalf of the residents I would like to thank these people for taking time out to come and entertain us again. : Several residents went to visit our friends at the Chimo Club and as usual, had a good time. Some of our residents went to see the first of the winter concert series, the tap dancing; it was really good and we all enjoyed it very much and are looking for- ward to the rest of the concerts. Lester and Doris Legault came to see Felix Legault on his 83rd Birthday. Doris baked a big, beautiful cake and Felix shared it with all the residents and staff along with our afternoon tea; it sure was a delicious cake. Doris, our thanks to you. Now I guess you can start to think about Christmas shopping; have a nice time but don't forget the poor. Until next time, be good to each other. Wee joke- Small boy showing teacher's report card to his father, "They're not paying enough for one thing." Adios. Winnie Campbell By Winnie Campbell An open house was held on Oct. 13 at the Schreiber Curling Rink in honour of Mr. Romeo Thibeault on his retirement from the CPR after 41 years of dedicat- ed service. Many friends and relations and' CPR officials from out-of-town attended. Many gifts were pre- sented and the evening was enjoyed by all. The Thibeaults will make their new home in Sudbury. Get well wishes to Mrs. Marg Godin and Miss Valentino and Mimi Duggan. Happy Birthday (96) years young to Mrs. Eleanor O'Connor. Amazing Wonder Even when I was 88 no one noticed me, I was not old yet was not young. uninteresting you see. At 90 all was going well, I was placed among the sages, All then said I was wonderful. But did not mention ages. Whilst sitting in my armchair lazing when I was 94, the doctor came and said 'amazing', when I walked across the floor at 96 I now perceive, 4 though my life was one long blunder, ' it's ripe old age why all believe, that I am an 'amazing wonder'.
