DEC. 16-24th Ca Se TOWNSHIP OF SCHREIBER NOTICE 1987 DOG TAGS ore now available: RATES: MALE DOG $10.00 FEMALE DOG $20.00 SPAYED FEMALE $10.00 Volleyball news The Lake Superior High School Senior Boys' Volleyball Team finish- ed another successful season by plac- ing fifth in the all-Ontario (OFSAA) Volleyball championships held recently in Glencoe, Ontario (near London). Prior to making their second con- secutive OFSAA appearance, the Voyageurs captured the NSSSAA best title at Red Rock, defeating Geraldton and Nipigon-Red Rock. In the NSSSAA final at Wawa, they defeated Nipigon-Red Rock again, as well as Hornepayne and Wawa for the championship. Next came the NWOSSA (Nor- thwestern Ontario) championship held this year at the home of the NOR- WOSSA champion- Sioux Lookout. The championship this year was bas- ed on a two out of three match series with each match being a best three out of five games. LSHS dropped the first match three games to two, but then roared back to win the next two matches by three games to none scores, capturing the NWOSSA title. At OFSSA, they lost a heartbreak- ing first match 16-18, 15-11 and 13-15. Despite the tough loss, they came back to win their next three matches in- cluding a victory over the second- seeded team. On the final day of the tournament, they split their remaining two matches to finish with four wins and two losses for fifth place overall. One game separated them from fourth and a place in the finals. Never- theless, it was a tremendous effort from a team that was not ranked going into the tournament. In addition to their league successes this year, the team also won Invitational Tournaments in Marathon and Red Rock and placed second in the Con- federation College Tournament. This, plus the Junior team winning the Junior NSSSAA and NWOSSA titles, gave LSHS a complete Volleyball season. (While staying in London, the team visited 'Man in Motion' Rick Hansen, who was staying nearby, and made a donation to his cause). Congratulations to the Senior team, Curt Evoy (Captain), Kevin Roberts, Steve Dennome, Henry Kaari, Shawn Madore, Kent Klassen, Mike Molinski, Charlie. Scollard and Coach Doug Roberts. Microwaves save time Today's busy, active homemaker - young or old, male or female - probably young or old, male or female - probably has a microwave oven on the Christmas wish list. As soon as they are out of the wrapping paper, Whirlpool microwave ovens are designed to let you get out of the kitchen fast, and on to better things. A microwave oven meshes perfectly with hectic schedules. Quick defrost cycles speed up that 'tage old" task of thawing. From snacks to hamburgers, scrambled eggs to fudge sauce, variable cook- ing power features make every cook a "'chef"'. Bi-level cooking racks and large oven capacities allow for prepara- tion of an entire meal at one time. And, temperature probes, available on most top-of-the-line models, help the food turn out 'just right" every time. A basic concern in buying a microwave oven is where to put it, so Whirlpool offers many sizes and styles, with numerous installation options. From full size models that can fit on a counter, over the range, or in a cabinet, to compact models designed to fit small kit- chen spaces, there is a microwave oven to meet everyone's needs. me: Dorthis -- DRYCLEANING SERVICES PLAIN DRESSES SLEEPING BAGS BEDSPREDS 7 Simcoe Plaza Terrace Bay 825-3776 WINTER SPECIALS Dec. 8 to Dec. 20 MENS & LADIES 2 PIECE SUITS COMFORTERS & ~--6.25 5.25 6.25 5.25 TRAILER PARK Schreiber 824-2617 THE TOWNSHIP OF SCHREIBER will be CLOSED on the following days over the HOLIDAY SEASON: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, 1986 FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26, 1986 § FTELIDBEROCMRAWT AARILIARW 4 40077 | Thunder Bay's Top 40 Band, Room with a View, entertained local residents at the Moose Lodge for two days.
